TV Streaming series to talk about.

My daughter and I are debating starting or waiting until all episodes are released.
Netflix releases the entire season at once for their series. All seven episodes of the second season are available now.

I finished re-watching season one tonight and will be watching season two whenever I have time between bowl games I'm interested in.

Started Slow Horses yesterday. It's about a group of MI-5 agents who are basically fuck-ups and Slow Horses is the code name for the group where they are sent to redeem themselves. Great cast - Gary Oldman, Kristin Scott-Thomas, Jack Lowden, Hugo Weaving, Jonathan Pryce among others. Not too serious but not too light. IMDb has it as an 8.3 and I'd agree with that.

By recommendation here La Doña and I started 'Bad Monkey' last night. Pretty good so far.

We're fans of 'Lincoln Lawyer' (all caught up now) but also enjoy Sci-Fi stuff: 'Sweet Tooth,' 'The Last of Us,' and 'Lost in Space.' were all faves. We also liked 'His Dark Materials' and 'The Blacklist.' 'The Guilded Age' is a good one too.

In a completely different vein, 'Peacemaker' was a wild ride.

Watched episode 3 of Squid Game season 2 last night. Watching the scene where all the game participants vote on whether to continue the games was like watching the 2024 election all over again.

That's funny, that's exactly what my wife and I said.

Vote against your better interest.

We watched all 7 this past weekend. It wasn't nearly as good as the first.

I'll not give any spoilers, but there was one point where I believe the lead character makes a stupid decision. Of course that character made a few stupid decisions in the first season, not sure how he managed to win.

Did you see anything interesting about player 001?

No one responded to my last post.

Has anyone watched the series "Before"?

Started the Agency. Quite good. Then realized I have to subscribe to Paramount+ to continue. Kinda like a dealer getting me hooked then upping the price.

Yes.

Finished Season 2 of The Diplomat. Now stuck with the finale cliff-hanger (more holy shit, now what moment) until next Fall at least.

Fun show. My husband is a big West Wing nerd and he frequently compared the two shows (though this one is focused on State Department doings).

Dug this up out of curiosity:

‘I don’t recall so many attractive people’: experts reveal what The Diplomat gets right – and wrong

Foreign affairs staff seem mostly to be enjoying the new Netflix show starring Keri Russell, despite the many liberties it takes

“… But for all the dramatic licence taken with the plot and characters, The Diplomat’s producers made sure they got at least some of the details absolutely right.

They persuaded the US and UK to allow them to film on government locations. Several scenes were shot inside the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office in Westminster, including the foreign secretary’s office itself, a rarely granted privilege.
They also got to film inside the knobbly, modernist cube of the new American embassy in Nine Elmsby the Thames.

But the film-makers were not allowed into the sprawling residence of Winfield House on the edge of Regent’s Park, sold to the US government by the Woolworth heiress, Barbara Hutton, for one dollar in 1946, and where the current ambassador, Jane Hartley, lives.

In its place, they filmed at the stately home at Wrotham Park, in Hertfordshire, and used special effects to make it look as though the BT tower was looming over the trees as it does over Winfield House. ..”

Anyone watch Laid? I am 2 episodes in and so far it's amusing. The baseball player dying was darkly funny.

Someone in this thread mentioned Doc Martin; it got us to try it and me and the wife love it.

We found another show with Martin Clunes (Doc) and it's where he reenacts a British detective named Colin Sutton that solved two tough cases. It's called Manhunt FYI and was a really awesome watch.

Watched the first two episodes of new HBO Series, “The Pitt.” It’s basically ER using 24’s timing. Each episode is one hour in real time.

Really like it so far.

I found The Penguin to be very compelling. I don’t generally get into comic book type shows/movies but this is more of a fantasy type mafia storyline.

I gave it a try because I also liked The Joker movie.
