TV Streaming series to talk about.

I just started Season 2 of "The Empress" on Netflix. It's an Austrian series about Empress Elisabeth "Sisi" and Emperor Franz Joseph in 19th Century Austria. It's good but I'm a sucker for historical dramas, even those about the Austria-Hungarian Empire.

I am rewatching the first season of Severance to remind me of the details before season 2 finally launches on Friday. Given the way my husband only likes to watch no more than one show at a time, no more than 1-2 episodes a week, by the time we finish seasons 1 and 2, season 3 of Yellowjackets should be about wrapped up and I can start that.

I found The Penguin to be very compelling. I don’t generally get into comic book type shows/movies but this is more of a fantasy type mafia storyline.

I gave it a try because I also liked The Joker movie.
i keep meaning to watch it, but always forget and end up pulling up some rerun of something else when i have time. I need to just watch it.

The Gotham tv show that went off the air a few years ago certainly treaded the line of stupid at times, but i thought their version of the penguin was quite good. The actor who portrayed him seem to hit the right notes more often than not.

Overall i watched that whole series because you got the sense the scenery chewing was done with a wink and a nod.

That was intense! I only watched it because it said it makes Game of Thrones not look so harsh...I agree. Meh end like GoT but I thought was very good.
Thinking about starting it. Your comments indicate the show will be too intense/violent for my wife’s tastes so it will be a “me” series.

I saw the trailer for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew and was just like, "nah." The Mandalorian was great, and The Book of Boba Fett was pretty good, but after Ahsoka and The Acolyte, I'm just burnt and have no strong desire to watch it.

My wife and I enjoyed it (after hating The Acolyte). It’s geared toward kids and has a Goonies feel to it, but that makes it pure fun. It doesn’t take itself too seriously. It certainly has more of that pure Star Wars vibe, but with kids as most of its main characters. I had always thought that when Star Wars brought kids into it, it sucked, but this one worked. Very enjoyable. And Jude Law is great in it.

It's aimed at younger viewiers - basically Goonies meets Star Wars. My nine year old loves it. She's on her third viewing. It's a nice self-contained story. Jude Law is excellent in it.
