I'll add a small bit of nuance to my previous statement. The rules of war simply do not apply here wrt the people who planned and ordered the strikes (i.e. Trump Hegseth, other top brass). That is a case of murder under US law.

However the nuance here is that the Rules of War do matter in terms of the culpability of the individual seal team six members who "were just obeying orders" in executing these strikes. They do not bear any individual responsibility to determine if they are in an "armed conflict" or not. Their superior's say so is more than enough in this case to shield them from criminal responsibility for murder here. In this case they are, for all intents and purposes "acting under the rules of war".

However that does not protect anyone responsible for executing the second strike. In that case the order to kill the survivors was "clearly illegal" (in the sense that it's the actual example of a clearly illegal order cited in the damn manual) and the individual seal team six members had a duty to refuse that order.

In that case my guess is that ones that pulled the trigger on the second strike would NOT be liable for murder under US law, but can and should be court martialed under military law for (in this case) actually committing a war crime.

It’s over. Move on to your new “Trump bad” scandal that’s going to bring down his Presidency.
You're the most willfully gullible fuck that ever lived.
According to the Daily Mail, Admiral Bradley is testifying to this to Congress as we speak (Raddatz has good sources). Bradley was conducting the mission and He concluded that the two survivors were radioing for back up and attempting to salvage the cargo. Thus, the battle was not completed. You'll now have to call one of the most respected Admirals in the Navy a liar and a hack for covering up for Trump and Hegseth.

To whatever degree bombing drug runners is legal/moral, I'd say this information takes the second strike issue off the table as a war crime, particularly given that previous survivors, who were deemed to no longer be in the fight, were appropriately rescued.
Wait, what?

No delusion.
I'm laughing so hard that the same person could make both of these posts on the same message board within a 24 hour period.

First we have to hear his testimony. Then we have to see if he is lying. Then we we have to, need to and are obligated to call him out as a liar if he is one whether or not he covered anyone else's ass or asses. What the Daily Mail reports, pre testimony doesn't mean a damned thing about what actually gets determined, just to help you out through the tough part of understanding my stance.

I don't think any poster has any expectations that anyone will be held accountable in this administration. Nobody here thinks this is going to "bring down his Presidency."

This administration only believes in accountability for people other than them. Everyone posting here is simply pointing out that this miserable episode is just further evidence that this administration is populated with sorry ass incompetents who are a danger to the future of our nation.

And yes, that Admiral is a hack and liar if he testifies as has been reported. But nothing will happen because the Congressional Republicans are just as culpable as the Administration. Nobody believes that bullshit other than naked partisans like you who lack any degree of self respect.

According to Ram, the American soldiers lying on Omaha Beach with their legs blown off, screaming out for a medic, should have been taken out by a Predator drone.

If he ordered a second strike on people swimming among the floating remains of their boat in the middle of the ocean, then he is a war criminal. Plain and simple.

Speaking of...

Yes. Trump 2.0 seems to be really serious about drug trafficking...

Honduras’ former President Juan Orlando Hernández thanked US President Donald Trump for pardoning his US drug trafficking conviction amid criticism from lawmakers that the pardon undermines the White House’s efforts to stop drug trafficking.

“My profound gratitude goes to President (Trump) for having the courage to defend justice at a moment when a weaponized system refused to acknowledge the truth,” Hernández wrote on X Wednesday.

President of Honduras from 2014 until 2022, Hernández was convicted and sentenced last year to 45 years in prison and given an $8 million fine by a US judge for drug trafficking offenses. Hernández insisted he was innocent, claiming his trial was “rigged” and that it relied on the accusations of criminals who sought revenge against him.

Could Trump BE any more corrupt?

Hegseth sure likes to posture himself as a tough guy until it’s time to be held accountable for his actions.
Then he turns into a spineless wimp. “Don’t look at me, it’s that guys fault.”
"Look over there!" in distraction or blame. It's the Trump way.
