Gaines has some work to do to toughen up this pitching staff. They have not thrown well at all in pressure situations as a group.

Haha...pitching change made a big difference too. Lot easier to hit 90 on the ground than 93 which gets in on your hands really quicky.
I understand not wanting to give our batters a third look at the starter, but sometimes managers over think these things. The starter still looked really good.

I agree. Overmanaging is rampant in college baseball. We do a fair amount of it too. My single biggest critique of Coach Forbes though is the nonstop challenges of umpire calls. We challenged a call up 9 runs in Greenville and I wanted to scream. We have to see that same crew all weekend and that's just dumb in my opinion. I really don't know why we do that.

Looks like the game ends in a tie. Does that mean our record is 6-1-1 now, or is the game no contest since it didn't go 7 innings?

We’ll get to settle this on the diamond when they are our three seed in June.

I saw more this weekend to be concerned about than to be happy with. I am tickled pink with DeCaro and Gallaher. That is about it for me with the superlatives.

We lack consistency in the lineup. Too often we have poor ABs with a runner on base. We also have not shown a ton of speed on the bases to get guys into scoring position.

I also will reiterate the WMD concern. He needs a change up...badly.

VCU seemed to give up in the 7th. Two very poor fielding plays in the outfield led to the game ending on the mercy rule as darkness fell on a chilly night.

But so far the Heels have shown a lot of promise, albeit not against stiff competition (ECU may not be as good as usual this year or maybe just a slow start).
