UNC basketball 2026 transfer portal

I heard Elliot wanted $2 million and UNC didn’t think he was with that, then got Evans for $1.2 and thought it worked out great at the time.

But that may not be correct.

I never interpreted the EC decision to be about $ but maybe it was

But yeah, I believe Kyan got much more than $1M

the roster was reported at $14M and most of that is for 6-7 players

I saw Sherrell make a comment on IC a few weeks ago that both sides (the staff and Cadeau) went into the 24-25 season with an understanding that it was probably going to be Cadeau’s last season with UNC. Maybe there was also a disconnect between the two sides about his perceived NIL value, but it seems like the rift went beyond just the financials.

It’s water under the bridge at this point but I hate that it didn’t work out for whatever reason. Always liked Cadeau’s game.

With rev shares coming in, price tags are going to increase. 2 million is now the 1 million of last year.

Yeah, price is up for everyone. Last year starters were around $1M

Dixon is a 2nd tier portal guard that can shoot and play point which are both premiums

$2M is a little much but you might consider it based on the rest of your options

As Rell said on the podcast tonight (and as he has said many times in the past), take all these portal numbers with a huge grain of salt. Reported numbers are often not true.
I don't believe 75% of these numbers, it would cost teams $20M to build a contender, unless they got real lucky with freshman or lower cost players that break out.

IC said they thought we spend 14 mill last year-I see no reason why this year-new coach excitement, proof by Michigan you get 5 portals and win a Natty....I see no reason why we won't push high teens or push twenty-if we can get the big whoopees guys we want

I just don't understand how this is sustainable. Schools and boosters paying crazy money for players who may or may not deliver and with rare exceptions don't give a damn about the school, fanbase or legacy, only the cold hard cash of the transaction. Then having to up the ante the next year apparently ad infinitum. Meanwhile the long term fan like myself feels increasingly distanced from the whole thing to the point of mere curiosity but no longer totemic loyalty and devotion. I watched the collapse during the tournament with a sense of mild annoyance and some oddly curious amusement this year. Had that happened 6 years ago the dog would have hidden under the bed and we might not have seen the cat for a solid week. The dog slept on my lap the whole time as a clear demonstration of how this has ruined it all for me.

Who keeps paying the tab for this?

Is 20 million really that much?

I have no clue how it is sustainable...Every year is "the chance of a lifetime to buy a Natty " I guess . I am a pretty loyal fan and yea I can't tell you exactly where our one year wonders went to college last. I use to know their high schools and their parents name

100% some team will spend close to that. It’s only about 5-6 players you really have to pay

I don’t assume any reported number is 100% accurate. don’t assume them to be 50% off either

Kentucky paid $22M for this past season's roster. Do you think they'll be under $25 million this year? $30?
