If UNC ends up 4-8……losing its last 3 games to its 3 biggest in-state rivals….how does this vaunted recruiting class hold up?

How much do these high school recruit’s contribute in 2026?
Yes, that's always the issue. I should have prefaced my comment in the spirit of Sherrell, by saying UNC's current ranking is 15th.

I guess I'm looking at it from the pov that they're 15th in team rankings while going through a shit-show of a year. Maybe that is not the way to look at it, but I do think it's a good showing from Lombardi.
Hey-Zeus fucking Christ……we’re having a shitty season because of the Big Bill…..but, applaud the NFL’s 33rd team for its recruiting prowess.

Those freshmen damn well better win 10 games in 2026.

It looks to me like this class might contribute some in the secondary and special teams. And there's a few two-way players that look like speedsters who could help on offense (WR).

UNC is currently #129 out of 136 in Total Offense, just 2 power conference teams are below us. Given the easy schedule, that is astoundingly bad.

Wisconsin somehow averages 40 fewer yards per game than we do.

Points per game also has us #129 out of 136 with just two P4 teams below us.
The “somehow” is that Wisconsin plays a much, much harder schedule.

Yes, that is one of the few positives so far this year. You don't think a top-15 recruiting class is good?

Sounds like they’ll beef up the O-Line a ton.

I will give it to you, you do have some high standards. Finishing 8-5 wouldn't have been a good ending to the season, nor is a top-15 recruiting ranking. With standards that high, you must have only had a handful of satisfactory seasons in the history of UNC football.

Are we finishing the season 8-5?

We’re 4-6 after Wake FUCKING Forest
Bitch-slapped us.

Go Bill, Go!

Yes, to your point, a top-15 class might not make/break our 2026 season. We're going to need 2 starting corners though and frosh *could* help there, and having a single speedy WR on the team would help too. As for DE/OL/LB/TE/QB, probably corner, I see us hitting the portal hard for starters.

4 or 5 new xfer defensive starters.
Paysour and 4 starting OL depart (along w Lindberg) and since need playmakers, I could easily see 7 new xfer starters offensively:
QB, TE, WR, Center, OG, other OL, and RB or OL.

No, of course not. What’s impressive is that even if they did you said it still wouldn’t be a good end to the season. Just like having a top-15 recruiting class isn’t good in your opinion. Finishing 8-5 with a top-15 recruiting class in year one would be pretty damn good in my opinion, but you’re clearly looking for better than that in the future. Now that I know what you expect from a UNC football coach, I do see where you’re coming from with your disappointment.

You know….if we improve QB, TE, WR, Center, OG, other OL, and RB or OL we might improve!

That’ll be impressive!

We'll be pretty good next year I think. I have confidence in the defensive coaching and we can't be any worse in terms of offensive skill positions. We have Baker coming in at QB and we should be able to pick up a few WR in the portal.

Im going to probably do my part to change the mojo by not purchasing tickets. Something has to change, thats for sure.
