I was not attempting to refute anything. And of course there are times when anonymous sources are necessary. I would almost bet the wral anchorman didn't talk to anyone. He does not have time to do actual reporting. I am just not buying the chaos etc from a coach notoriously strident and organized. I say again I talked to bunch of former players close to program and none of that. Call me unimpressed the anchor could find an unhappy parent if he did indeed. How about anecdotes? Give examples. I'm out. Said my piece. Time will tell.
If WRAL was the only one reporting it you might have a point. But they're not.

Belichick is 73 man. He's the oldest coach in college football. He's not what he once was. And he's not overseeing and coaching 50 players in their 20s and 30s, many of whom have played professionally for years. He's overseeing and coaching 100+ 18-23 year old kids, many of whom have been away from home and living on their own for only weeks or months. And he has limits on how much of their time he can get during the week because they're going to college. It's not even close to the same task in terms of how you interact with and control and coach the players. The job he's doing now is not the one he was great at, and he hasn't even been great at that job for several years now. No one should be at all surprised that he misunderstood - and/or failed to take the time to try to understand - what the job would be.

I have two fellow reporters who I gave first job covering UNC and while they see much to question they don't see divided locker room and they are there.
Who do they work for and how often are they there?

What’s happening now is a mounting list of anecdotes supporting the idea that it’s a shit show with very little evidence refuting those claims.
Bill banning Patriot scouts from the facility - bad look
Social media not being allowed to repost Drake - bad look
Infamous gf on the sideline in skimpy outfits - bad look
Going on a public vacation during a bye week - bad look
Etc etc

If it’s true the staff didn’t meet with players for weeks, don’t share their phone numbers, give preferential treatment to transfers, etc then that is even more fuel to the fire.

The performances on the field is what gives credence to some of these claims, rightly or wrongly.

You know I have a lot of appreciation and respect for you as a person and as a poster, but why parachute into a discussion (you yourself said you aren't going to read the rest of the thread), share your views, have other people ask you to clarify your views or provide alternative perspectives to your views, and then parachute right back out when you get (polite, reasonable) pushback? I don't understand that at all.
I have to leave. I skimmed it. My point was cautionary. Look who is doing the reporting. I'm not even arguing. Or mean to. Just got to go.

So far it looks like the people doing the reporting are literally everyone. Wral, Dan welzel, Andrew Jones, IC has corroborated most of it in their way. This is an absolute shit show and not recoverable. You’d have a point if it was only wral and you were also blind so you didn’t see the obvious dysfunction and awful play

Last post. AJ reporting concerns me. He has sources.

Here is today's journalism. Limited original reporting because no one has staff. Everyone depends on that reporting and the does opinion. I have two fellow reporters who I gave first job covering UNC and while they see much to question they don't see divided locker room and they are there. Do you think wral and N&I were responsible in covering the scandal?
I think there were specific individual journalists who were not fair in their reporting of the scandal. But that involved reporting that could be proven to be inaccurate. At the same time, a lot of fans lashed out at all media that painted UNC in a negative light. And that's the sense I get from reading your posts. You don't like what's being reported so you turn to generally attacking the media. And I know that attacking the media is appealing to a lot of people but to me it's just a way creating a bad guy to attacking without addressing the topic.

In 10 days, we’ll play our 2nd game after a bye week (game is Friday, not Saturday).

I hope we don’t look as poorly coached and badly organized as we did against a 1-3 Clemson.

We’re playing a 4-2 Cal team that just lost to d00k 45-21 and San Diego State 34-0. Cal is on a bye week as well. It’s 4 wins are against 0-6 Oregon State, 3-2 Minnesota, 1-4 Boston College, and 2-3 Texas Southern.

I appreciate that Heel79 brings his views and what he's heard to the discussion - let's not attack him because his viewpoint is different than others
I don't think anyone is attacking him, just disagreeing with him. I instead think he is attacking media reports that he doesn't like and/or that say something he doesn't want to be true. He came on here to, among other things, call some guy at WRAL a liar and accuse him of making up sources.

Not one single person has attacked him. Disagreement and pushback on a viewpoint is not attacking. If 79 wants to be the kind of unconditionally supportive fan that is going to be reflexively supportive of the program and the head coach no matter what the circumstances, that’s totally his prerogative and something with which I can find no fault, even if I strongly disagree with it. And I’m going to politely and respectfully disagree and make my disagreement known on the message board.

I wouldn't put it past WRAL or the N&O to at the very least exaggerate the issues within the football program
With all due respect, after having watched the the product from the first five games this regime has put on the field, what on God‘s green earth would there be to exaggerate?

They are not exaggerating that this is the most poorly prepared, most poorly coached team in the entire country. We can see that with our own eyes.

They are not exaggerating that this coaching staff appears to be very clearly going through the motions, drawing a paycheck, and doing absolutely nothing else in the way of coaching, connecting, mentoring, teaching, and leading college athletes.

They are not exaggerating that parents of current players are willing to be sources for their story about how there is a massively broken culture within the Football program.

What could they possibly be exaggerating that we havent all already seen with our own eyes?

Just for shits and giggles, because I have not done this yet, I was curious to see how much more money Michael Lombardi makes as a GM than his counterpart at places like Alabama and Georgia. He is quite literally making more than double the amount of money. Double! This is absolutely the biggest drifting conartist Ponzi scheme in the history of college football, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is the only place pathetically desperate enough to enable it. I’m going to have a really difficult time regaining my pride and passion for the school while the current dipshits in leadership remain there to run the entire institution into the ground.

OK, sure, you think what you want. but it isn't "attacking" heel79 or you for me to point out that (1) plenty of people other than WRAL and the N&O are reporting the same things, and (2) there are pretty obviously tons of objective reasons to be alarmed by what's happening with the football program.

Football GM for the Texas Longhorns makes $600k, about a third of what we pay Lombardi.

Hey, at least we’re relevant now. We’ve sucked many times before and no one outside of our fanbase or NC State’s fanbase cared or talked about it. Now the national media is talking about us sucking. The fact we suck is making national headlines. I have friends who never thought a day in their life about UNC football who are now constantly bringing up how much the football team sucks.
I usually have thick skin about this sort of thing but the coverage for this shit show has gotten so pervasive and scathing that I can’t get away from it lol.

All of my non-UNC friends are having a field day making fun of us UNC friends about it. I played golf with 2 random guys yesterday and they started talking about college football. One went to OU and the other went to A&M, and they were talking about their QBs, upcoming games, etc. One of them asked me where I went to school so I had to begrudgingly say UNC, and the conversation immediately switches to “ooooo damn, what are they going to do about Belichick?”. Like you can barely have normal conversations about Xs and Os or individual players when it comes to UNC sports anymore. Everyone always defaults instead to “what do you think about the coach?” because the imbeciles that call the shots for the athletic department are incapable of making serious hires for whatever reason.
