Bill Belichick and North Carolina have discussed buyout options
The short-lived Bill Belichick era seems to be coming closer to an end.

I would imagine that everyone except maybe the Belichicks and Lombardis would stick around through the end of the year. They'll be simultaneously figuring out their next jobs, but they'll stick around. How quickly could you get an interim coach and staff in place assuming you get rid of Belichick? I can't imagine any of his staff would stick around
Or Bob DiacoI would imagine that everyone except maybe the Belichicks and Lombardis would stick around through the end of the year. They'll be simultaneously figuring out their next jobs, but they'll stick around.
I wouldn't be surprised if only Bill and Michael Lombardi left early. Everyone else is going to want to protect their reputations and you do that by seeing things through to the end of the year.
My hunch is that Freddie would again be interim HC through the end of the season. I'm not sure who'd call plays for the offense.
Well the Offense playcalling couldn't get worse........My hunch is that Freddie would again be interim HC through the end of the season. I'm not sure who'd call plays for the offense.
Diaco could be the interim, but I'd be surprised that they'd skip a coordinator if Freddie was willing to take the role. And I can't imagine they'd make Stephen Belichick the interim unless something crazy occurred like Bill insisting on it in order to step down.Or Bob Diaco
Both the WR and OL coach have called plays before if you went with Freddie. You absolutely do not bring anyone else in to be an interim and you do a search (the athletic director, not that cunt Lee roberts) for the next coach- preferably someone younger like Will Stein, Eric Morris, or Bob Chesney
Now know around Chapel Hill as the "Bill Belichick Way".
Maybe the ACC would kick us out of the league if we did. If so, win-win.I'm pretty sure the ACC would not let UNC just forfeit the rest of the season
Those tweets are out there; I've yet to personally see any hints of corroboration from IC or other sources (not that anyone has refuted them, as far as I'm aware). We're all on pins and needles.I saw the tweets about Bill Belichick potentially heading for the exit. Can anyone summarize the past couple pages?
Immediately. Just like at Va Tech and UCLA. You don’t hire an interim. You just promote from within. How quickly could you get an interim coach and staff in place assuming you get rid of Belichick? I can't imagine any of his staff would stick around
Huh? All the nonfired coaches will stay. This happens all the time. Va Tech and UCLA and Oklahoma State are just a few examples from this year.If BB gets fired or leaves in the next few weeks, do we shut down the program for the rest of the year? I doubt any of the coaches stay, right?
Were those coaches also all family members and friends of the head coach and gm?Huh? All the nonfired coaches will stay. This happens all the time. Va Tech and UCLA and Oklahoma State are just a few examples from this year.
Brent Key at Georgia Tech is an example from a few years ago.
Almost inevitably, the team performs much better once the cancer is removed. See Va Tech beating State and UCLA beating Penn State.
In fact, if we fire Belichick, my trip to Cal is back on. I want to see how we respond with new energy.
