Story on Belichick's girlfriend's role with the program. I found this part very interesting. Is she talking about the IC football board?

"Is there anyone monitoring the UNC Football page for slanderous commentary and subsequently deleting it/blocking users that are harassing BB in the comments?” she asked on February 13. The next day, Belichick wrote this: “I cannot believe that UNC would support my being called a ‘predator.’” (Looks like the Chapel Hill honeymoon ended in roughly two months.)

Something led me to think she's referring to a site hosted by the university or a site page/forum admin'd by the university, like an official Facebook page?

Some spin masters on IC say not to worry, Beau isn’t that good. Also, Bill and Lombardi knew we needed a QB and settled on the kid from Purdue. Well, he apparently sucked so bad we moved on and decided to look for something in the spring portal. Hope the kid from South Alabama we are hoping to get is the real deal.
It's like they rented a guy specifically for spring practice... That or it was quite the miss.

she's definitely referencing various UNC football social media that people are leaving these comments on.....UNC football has official accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok and Twitter.

Belichick should expect that he will be pilloried for being ked around by the dick by a woman who is the same age as the cheerleaders on campus. If he's man enough to fuck someone 50 years younger, be man enough to deal with the predictable shots about that.
The whole thing is weird, but I think more with her than him. What old dude wouldn't want to be with a hot young woman? But a hot young woman wanting to be with an old dude like that is just off.

Completely agree with this. She is not without agency. It seems pretty clear that she is a wannabe influencer at best, possibly a gold digger at worst, and she knows exactly what she’s doing. They are two consenting adults who are clearly both getting whatever it is they think they want from what is very apparently a transactional relationship. More power to them, but it is weird as fuck. For Bill, banging a woman 50 years his junior who would be his granddaughter‘s age… is frankly gross. There’s no other word to describe it. For Jordan, banging someone who could be her grandfather is pretty transparently and pathetically an ambitious ploy. But if both of them are happy, since both of them are consenting, more power to them. However, they are completely fair game for ridicule. And frankly, I am surprised that a place that is as image-conscious as is UNC went for it in the first place. I guess we really are desperate for football relevance.

Strictly from a Football standpoint, I remain not fond of this hire. Certainly that does not mean that I don’t hope that it works out for the best – I very much hope it works out for the best, in fact. I would love nothing more than for UNC Football to finally stop sucking for once. But I had a ton of reservations when the hire was initially announced, and those reservations have only heightened since.

We have not had nearly as big of a splash in the transfer portal or on the high school recruiting trail as I think we should have theoretically had. Belichick clearly lost a lot off of his fastball over the last couple of years in New England, and there is no reason to think it has not diminished even further the older he gets. I also think that a lot of the staff hiring reeks of nepotism. I’m not nearly as convinced as most of IC is that he’s going to just roll into college football coaching for the very first time in his life at age 73 and pick right up where he left off when he had the greatest quarterback in the history of football.

I hope like hell I’m wrong. I would love nothing more than to be wrong about this. Would thrill me to no end, in fact, if I am wrong.

I think there is a pretty small window of time where this thing can work and it's already looking like year 1 is going to be a dud. I know that all of IC has convinced themselves that 7-5 or 8-4 would be totally acceptable "because it's only year 1", but when you hire the most accomplished coach in the history of the game, brand yourself as "the NFL's 33rd team", have one of the weakest schedules in years, AND you have a 73-year-old head coach whom you're paying $10 million (double what we were paying Mr. "Eight Wins Is Pretty Ground Around Here") then I don't think 7-5 or 8-4 is very good. Maybe if Belichick was 10 years younger and if college sports hadn't gone completely off the rails with NIL and transfer portal bullshit, and he could actually build team and roster continuity over 2, 3, 4+ years, more leeway could be allowed for a rougher first year.

As it stands, we've got about, what, 3 or 4 years at the maximum? (And I'm still not convinced we even get to year 2 given that totally bizarre buyout reduction that happens before he even coaches a single snap THIS year). We need to win 9 or 10 at a minimum to keep any momentum going that we think we gained from this "splash" hire. And I don't see this being a 9 or 10 win roster....and maybe not even 7 or 8....

The guys who were in the news transferring -- I take it those were guys who saw that they would have limited PT this year? Probably nobody really important to the program?

Beau Atkinson would have been a starting defensive end and was our returning sack leader. Believe he's the only starter-level transfer out to date.
Oh. Why is he leaving?

Here's the thing about BB: he was famous in NE for finding diamonds in the rough and finding ways to utilize them as real contributors. That's why the Patriots were so good for so long -- yes Tom Brady, but also they had the best salary cap management because they could find cheap talent that was overlooked elsewhere.

I don't know if BB will still have that, but in a way, the new salary cap model for college sports plays to his (former?) strengths. So before being bummed about the talent, see what BB does with it.

The bulk of the Carolina players already in the portal likely weren’t playing much this upcoming season.

Beau Atkinson is the big exception; he was the likely starter at one of the DE/OLB positions. He also was likely UNC’s best defensive player.

Also, the QB who is in the portal, was either #1 or #2 on the depth chart.

I don't know this for sure but I think Atkinson is leaving because a bigger, better football school like Georgia or Ohio State opened up the checkbook.

I don't think Belichick's "scrimping" strategy that worked so well with New England will work nearly as well at the collegiate level, and especially not at a place like UNC that is only ever halfway serious about football at best as it pertains to institutional investment. At New England, he could get those diamond-in-the-rough players on the cheap, yes, but then he was also able to sign them to contracts, which meant that he wasn't facing the reality of his entire roster being treated as open season free agency every year. And anyway, those diamond-in-the-rough players were still NFL players with NFL talent. The diamond-in-the-rough players that he is currently amassing at UNC are players for whom we are fighting G5 and service academy-level schools. There may be a few under-the-radar guys that he can develop and mold, but it's almost certainly not going to be enough to actually compete at the highest level of college football.

Like I say, I would love nothing more than to be as wrong as two left feet about this whole thing. I'm just very highly skeptical, and I think it's with good reason. I'd have much rather had Jon Sumrall or Glenn Schumann, and yes, I definitely recognize how crazy that sounds on paper to prefer those two guys to Bill freaking Belichick!

Think Browne sees the courting of the South Alabama QB in the portal and the writing was on the wall.

Lots of uncertainties.

Except about this. About this I am 100% certain: I am not a football coach; I have never been a football coach; and I know very little about football coaching.

So I'm going to wait and watch.

Totally fair. That's all any of us can do. Belichick has definitely forgotten, re-learned, and then forgotten again more about football than I'll ever know.
