I knew that College GameDay talked about BB but avoiding to IC on3 spent 10 mins on him. Wow if true. Interestingly all remained bullish in Bill, according to the poster. Yes, I know, they are buddies etc. Kirk said he believed it will work because BB is all in. So contrast that with Pat.

Isn’t this just an admission on your part that “journalists who say things that I agree with = good, journalists who say things I disagree with = bad”?

If *this* is Bill going “all in” isn’t that an enormously damning indictment on his ability to build a college football program at age 73?

First off, I don't consider Nick Saban, Kirk Herbstreit, Pat McAfee as journalists, although they play that role. Second I look at motive. WRAL is enjoying attention and looking for clicks. Then I would look at credibility. Guessing GameDay crowd knows some football.
Most importantly I did not say they were right and WRAL was wrong. I simply provided different perspective that was shared. I'm going to also venture that Kirk and Saban have talked with BB and Pat has not.

I mean this with no snark or sarcasm. Let’s just hope that Bill Belichick supposedly, allegedly being “all in” starts to manifest itself soon on the field. Because I’m not sure we could look worse or as poorly coached as we’ve looked for the first 5 games. We very obviously disagree on the current leadership of th program but I know we very obviously both want the exact same thing, which is for UNC football to be good.

It's funny how a school like Indiana gets a new coach last season and goes from 3-9 the year before to 11-2 the first year with the new coach, and is currently 7th in the polls this season. Yet, UNC, which should have more name recognition and money than a program like Indiana, gets a new coach that is supposed to be a genius and the season is turning into a cluster.

I liken it to, I’d rather have the best kindergarten teacher teaching my kindergartners rather than the smartest 70+ year old college professor teaching them. One knows their students and how to communicate to them, and even though both are teachers.

The college prof may end up doing a great job but it’ll take some time to figure it out.

BB in no way has my unconditional support. I think he deserves a chance to build program and I think much of the discontent is just players were not ready for a shift from mack to BB and there is a clear effort from the inside to take him down .. as far as on field just can't compete without a QB and oLine and we whiffed there. That is where I think a good journalist could be helpful. I know we didn't get an we wanted but what about oline.
I would smoke if I awakened tomorrow ti the news Lombardi is gone.

I agree. The Belichick hire was just dumb. He's too old to stick around long enough to figure it out. The BOT and Chancellor Roberts are to blame for this mess.

Sure, if your sample size is all schools, then one or two will probably have miraculous turnarounds. That's always been true. Another way of looking at it is that Indiana has replaced its coach surely a dozen times over the past few decades, and they've never been good. Most bad programs, when replacing their coach, remain bad. That's what makes them bad programs.

Yes. Indiana is in Big 10. Do we have more money? I don't know. My understanding is we are rolling in the dough now because of BB, another metric that is ignored. Seems fair to let him spend that money in portal.

You're ignoring the elephant in the room here. Willy nilly or Willy jilly? This is as ultimately important as anything currently under discussion, lol.

Before you posted I thought I edited to fix. But apparently did not save. Did not want to edit after you pointed out.

I doubt Indiana has less money invested in football than UNC does. Having said that, I wonder if Bubba would've gone after Cignetti (spelling) if Mack had've done the right thing and stepped down earlier.

I will give the UNC staff credit for thus far holding the recruiting class together despite the on field performance and more importantly, all the noise off the field. There’s still a good ways to go though.

You mean 2 friends and a guy he called during the segment believe he’ll do well

Recruiting is good. I think this is exactly what I have been saying. Relentless. We have 36 recruits. Ten 4 stars. Approach must be working.

Nice of the HS coaches to talk to WRAL on game day. Also, why did former players need anonymity? Garbage journalism. Keep lapping it up.
Again, there are clearly issues that need to be addressed. Not just on the field. We will see if he's up to it.

I know several former football players. I could write a story based on what they have told me about how much they like him.

They’re basically recruiting at our historical average. The class is currently ranked 18th with 36 (!!!) commits. By comparison, South Carolina’s class is 17th with 16 commits. Yes, the recruiting is fine right now, but the recruiting has to be a lot better than fine to make up for the poor scheming and coaching.
