Since we’ve talked previously on this thread about what kind of NIL money we may be offering certain recruits versus our competitors, there was an interesting tidbit in the scoop Don Callahan posted this evening on IC. A four star prospect who is currently committed to an SEC school is rumored to be planning to flip to UNC on Wednesday, and Don’s reporting is that multiple sources say that UNC is offering this particular prospect a much larger NIL package — one the team to which the prospect is currently committed does not plan to match. It lends credence to my belief that we are attracting a sizable number of this 40-man high school class with more lucrative NIL offers than they are receiving elsewhere. Not that there is anything wrong with that by any means – good for the players and good for UNC for doing it. But I have a hunch that there is a decent number of folks in this class for whom that is true, and for whom UNC beat other P4 offers that did not feel the need to match.
