Because he's a dickhead to everyone on the planet and they like twisting the knife? I agree that he should be first ballot HOF based on results but I also understood why people didnt want Pete Rose in the baseball hall (and it wasn't really the gambling).

Your first two sentences are almost exactly what my son said to me. He said it seems extremely petty and I couldn’t really disagree with him.

He’s unliked by many. It’s a way for some to flip him off.

It’s a way to laugh at him over his abysmal year at UNC.
 
They seem to be delaying his induction as a soft punishment for his perceived wrongdoings from spygate, deflategate and maybe general character over his career. Its certainly been used similarly in baseball with guys like Piazza and Bagwell and in football with TO.

Not sure the relevance. But if you watch NFL football it is absolutely amazing how many times his named is mentioned pre game, during game, post game just anecdotally. I have no doubt he has haters. This seems orchestrated by a single guy in the board who believes bill has to play price for spygate or whatever. But BB has plenty of fans. LT, Saban, Mannings, Ryan etc. This is an admission by the board that politics matters. Amazes me they would make themselves look so petty.
 
No one in this situation is more petty than Bill Belichick.

If he was well-liked and well-respected, he’d be in as a unanimous selection.

Maybe his first year at UNC has the Canton voters thinking, “It really was Tom.”

3-9 next year? Will that slow-roll his induction even more?

No. The vote this year is to mock Belichick for being such a dick.

They did not do their job. Period. Don't cheer that just bc you don't like him. There are plenty of dicks who were great coaches.

Have you ever noticed how many times you end up posting that there is someone out to get BB or orchestrating some behind the scenes character assassination of him? Previously it has been WRAL and people inside the athletic department. Now it is people inside the Hall of Fame.

Well I was right 0n all of them. WRAL went after him, aided by people inside the program. You know that because you are connected. As for the hall there are already stories about who did this and why. Have you ever noticed how you never give BB a benefit of doubt? Did Shipp go into portal?

I grew to dislike the Belichick/Kraft Patriots while living in Maine. Why? The asshole-ishness. Not sure who is the bigger asshole - Belichick or Kraft.

Belichick hasn't earned a benefit of the doubt. He has raped the university for more money than anyone else in its 250 year history and produced nothing of value.

Also, I would appreciate you not stating what I do and do not know. I never even read whatever WRAL had to say about him. My opinions of him were baked in long before that.

I hated the dude in the NFL. I hated that we hired him. I hated the way he handled the first year on the job. That's enough for me to have my own opinion.

If you do not know what WRAL reported, then do not suggest I was wrong about their reporting. They were, mostly. You have made it well known on here that you are connected at UNC, and it's clear you are a significant donor. And as a UNC fan, I appreciate that. But as someone with connections, you know this was an inside job mostly. I could care or less whether you like Belichick or not. He is our coach, and I will give him benefit of the doubt like I do all the coaches, until I see fit not to. I have never said BB would get this done. I have argued that he deserves time to do it. If I posted 10 times as much as I do on this thread and every single word was an attempt to prop up BB, then it would still be about 95 to 5 percent negativity toward him. Lol...it doesn't bother me at all if you "come back at me". I just said you shouldn't say what I do and do not know. I also didnt say you were wrong or right about WRAL. I just said that you consistently end up feeling the need to defend BB against these conspiracies you feel exist against him. My only point was to say that maybe such conspiracies boil down to the fact that he really is just a fucking asshat that people cant stand.

By the way, we have all been called fucking idiots here at one time or another and it is mostly well earned by all of us.
