Absolutely. It was totally based upon the weakness of the schedule. Sad thing is, the schedule turned out even weaker than I thought it would (FSU and NCSU suck) and we are STILL going to be 6-6 or 7-5 at best. Wooof.
A weak schedule doesn’t matter when you aren’t very good. But the schedule is so bad we are still managing to go bowling. How many bowl tickets will we sell? I guess it depends on the location but I’m putting the number at 50.

I know that a lot can change in a hurry with the portal and NIL, but I'm struggling to see how we are much better next year regardless of who is coaching. Either way there are going to be some massive roster holes that either this staff or a new staff have to fix, and it's going to require hitting on a ton of players in the portal, which is never a good bet (see: NC State and Florida State this year). I know that Indiana had a one-year turnaround but that is absolutely the exception and not the norm. We have a weak schedule yet again next year, but we won't take advantage.

Agreed. It's going to be rough.

State is going to load the box to stop Hampton and blitz like crazy on passing downs. And then we have a shitty bowl game to look forward to…
If this team ends up 6-6, can UNC refuse to go to a bowl game?

Does the conference require ALL bowl eligible teams to go to a bowl?

If possible to refuse the bowl, refuse it (it’s going to be Independence Bowl-level crap).

Say good-bye to Mack. Hire a new coach and staff.

Maybe Mack decided he wanted to go out with a win against State and so he spent the entire week prepping the team for next Saturday instead of doing anything for BC?

This is the story I'm going with.

Realistically, no team turns down a bowl invite unless there is a major, major issue within the program. Given the level of bowl we're going to, there will likely be a healthy number of players sit out, but the team will almost certainly go to a bowl.

Once we know which bowl we're going to, it'll be an interesting question what it would take for folks to be willing to attend.

For me, depending on the bowl site, the answer would likely be somewhere between there's no way I'd go and I'd go if all expenses were paid and I was given VIP treatment.

Yep, our offense is so one dimensional. We're dead in the water offensively if we can't establish the run.
The problem is that we can't fall behind by more than one score because we don't have the ability to catch up via the passing game.

I appreciate what Criswell has done this year as the 3rd string QB who wasn't expected to play, but he's really not very good.

I wouldn't go if they gave me Mack's salary for the game.

I don't see how there isn't a good deal of pressure on Mack to hang it up at the end of the year. It's not just our record and our embarrassing losses to James Madison and dook (blowing a 20-point lead) and now BC, it's the decommits from the program as well. It simply feels as if Mack's time here has completely run out of steam and that neither he nor his staff has anything left. If he does return next year I would expect fan morale and enthusiasm to be near an all-time low, as well as ticket sales. Of course we may end up with somebody even worse, but given the direction we seem to be heading in making a change is likely worth the risk.

Mack and Fed feasted on a bunch of bad teams and our fans worshipped both of them for awhile to the tune of tens of millions of dollars. Neither could coach worth a shit just a bunch of used car salesman bs.
