No way. Bill B is a tough ass hard nosed fb coach that our weak FB culture needs. MB was the opposite of what we needed and it has come to fruition.

You are right that it’s not goin to happen because our admin is absolutely clueless on how to build a winning FB culture.
Belichick is one of (if not the best) coaches in the history of the sport. He’s also 72 and has never coached in college. It would be a horrendous hire.

You dont know who or what would end up being a horrendous hire....neither do I. Mack Brown was horrendous.

Bill is old asf no doubt but id take him over used car salesman MB anyday of the week.

I would take a pop Warner coach over Mack so that’s not really saying much.

Beyond the fact that Belichick has no college experience, his age would make recruiting almost impossible, and that alone should be strikes one two and three against him. He’d maybe get a decent class or two based on name recognition, then after that the pipeline would dry up very quickly. HS recruits simply don’t want to commit to a coach that has an obviously limited shelf life.

Again.....you have zero idea what he would or wouldnt do unless you can see into the future. Moot point bc our admin is gutless and will follow suit with your type of thinking(typical fan thinking that star rankings is the most important thing). This has and will give us the same ole same ole(mediocrity ) that it has gotten us for decades.

I will say that I am amazed how much national media coverage the UNC coaching search is getting.

Lmao social media and the people who follow that trash is pure insanity. UNC would re-hire MB again before they would even give Prime Time a thought. UNC cares more about optics than winning FB games

To be clear, I don’t see any way UNC would go after Deon (or that he would consider the job), just noting the crazy stuff out there.

Thats fine and dandy, but i assure you there are a lot who believe that crazy stuff and thats the problem with social media unfortunately.

What makes it a clown show? I haven’t followed it closely so maybe I’m missing something, but the season ended less than 24 hours ago.
My guess (and yes it’s just a guess) is that Mack was fired with no real plan for who would be the new coach. But what really makes it a clown show is I don’t think everyone from top to bottom is in agreement on how to move forward (once again just a guess, I don’t know anyone, just been a fan for 40 years and have low expectations). Could be one of those situations where UNC gets rejected 3 or 4 times getting a lackluster candidate.

Now you’re just arguing with a straw man. I never said that recruiting rankings are the only thing that matter.

Being a college HC is just such a different job than the NFL, especially when you’re taking over a program that is close to bottoming out like we are. We really need someone with direct experience building a sustainable college recruiting pipeline, developing players at earlier stages of their careers compared to coaching pros, navigating NIL, overhauling gameday operations, etc.

Just because I don’t think 72 year old Belichick is the right fit for that job description doesn’t mean I don’t recognize that he’s one of, if not the best, NFL coaches ever.

Pretty sure they have been working on a plan since the beginning of the season, particularly after the JMU game.

The big question is what the guiding criteria will be to produce the short list: HC experience? P5 experience? recruiter? geographic fit? track record of player development?
Will they be able to resist the flash in the plan?

Not hiring Sanders would be about more than optics. He is fundamentally wrong for UNC in every way. He would result in an instant revolt from not just those within the academic portion of the university but also nearly all of our (very successful) other sports programs. He's not the kind of person that would find any commonality at Carolina and for that reason, he would be a bad fit for us.

You dont know that neither do i. Heard the same thing from Colorado Boulder community.

Doesnt matter our admin is too gutless to think outside the box and try something different. We will hire the latest greatest lime we did with Fed and be back in the same boat in a few yrs as history repeats itself.

Hiring a 67-year-old coach who left the program more than 20 years prior and hadn’t coached in 6 years was definitely different and outside the box. LOL.
