UNC Football - on the road to nowhere

This has to be the make-or-break game for Gio. He's had two games against FCS competition to warm up. He needs to show up and perform against a P4 team. Obviously, needs to get rid of the ball quicker and hit his receivers in stride. Hopefully, Blaske will return this week giving him a better chance of succeeding.

Otherwise, BB may need to make the change at QB1 during the bye week.

27-23 Bad guys take it.
But UNC covers the spread! Yay!
Hoping for a win, but I wouldn't really feel too bad if this is the outcome.

I kind of think Gio is who he is. I don't expect to see dramatic improvement from him. But if Demon continues to get more touches and continues to be effective, that would be pretty exciting.

Given Lopez's anemic passing yardage so far with the Heels, I was curious to see if Lopez had any games throwing 250+ yards with S. Alabama.

Last year, against North Texas he threw for 432 yards and 3 TDs and ran for 62 yards and 1 TD. So he can do it. His completion percentage stunk though, just 53%.

This is what’s so puzzling to me. I never expected Gio to be a world beater, but he still was carving up bad teams last year at South Alabama. The fact that he hasn’t been able to look even average against awful teams in Charlotte and Richmond with better (relatively speaking) surrounding talent on his own team makes me think that it’s more so a mental issue than it is a skill issue.

Could be our O-Line, receivers, and tight ends.

I question whether Gio knows or is comfortable with the offense. Remember he joined the team after spring practice and had 4 weeks to absorb the offense with all new teammates. That may account for his hesitancy. Add to the fact we're missing a center and another OL.

Our D-Line is not bad, btw. It's not filled with 5*s but they are more disciplined, with proper technique, than any of Mack's D-lines. Plus, the line is missing the best pass rusher Yates (UCONN transfer). Hopefully we get him back soon (concussion protocol).

Ready to make my weekly score prediction:

Give me UNC 24-20.
Bold.
Hope you’re right and I’m wrong.
The difference between our prediction and mine is basically the spread with you taking the under… I took the over.
Good thing we don’t bet 😎

Our offense has been beyond dogshit even when adjusting for bad opponents. Need to see us look at least halfway competent on that side of the ball first before I pick us to beat any P4 team.

More about Devine intervention than way to gamble! Always heard race not to the swift battle to the strong but best to bet that way!

Point spread seems strange.

Scott Frost just returned to UCF for the first time since 2017, when he led UCF to a 13-0 season that year. He has spent the last 5 years at Nebraska, where he played football.
