Watched the game — things completely unraveled at the end of the third as you say, but we started the half with two straight turnovers and dug ourselves a hole. Looked like the team ran out of gas as playing without two starters who usually provide about 1/3 of our scoring …Yeah, we were doing well until there was about 2 minutes left in the 3rd and then it all fell apart.
Hopefully we get Kelly and Ustby back soon and start rolling again. It was a rough loss, but hard to take too much from it due to the injuries.
Solid win against a decimated Miami team.
UNACCEPTABLE!
Man, that was so great. The hype around that game was insane. So many celebrities brought in to see the great coach k one more time. And just completely spoiled it for them. So sweet.
I wouldn’t say that the “wrongs can be righted”, I’d say more like they can be lessened enough to be ok.Fitting that most of this season's wrongs can be righted with a win on Saturday
Not holding my breath but crazier things have happened
As long as it's not so bad we can't laugh at State, there's always hope.State beats Pitt to keep their ACC Tourney hopes alive, only to see them dashed when Notre Dame beat Stanford by two later tonight. I'm well aware that we have our own problems, but watching State lose and have their hopes dashed always feels good, no matter how well or poorly we're doing.
If they lose to dook, which they won't, then they definitely need to make it to the semi-finals to have a chance and the finals to feel confident about making they tourney. So, do the Heels have to beat Duke or win the ACC tournament to get in the big dance? Would beating Duke be enough if they don't win the ACC tournament?
Let's do both! So, do the Heels have to beat Duke or win the ACC tournament to get in the big dance? Would beating Duke be enough if they don't win the ACC tournament?
Beating Duke would help significantly. If we beat Duke and at least reach the ACCT semifinals, I think we’re guaranteed a spot. If we lose to Duke, I think we need to reach the ACCT semifinals to have a real shot. So, do the Heels have to beat Duke or win the ACC tournament to get in the big dance? Would beating Duke be enough if they don't win the ACC tournament?
I believe a Duke win and we are in. It would sort of make a better argument for the close quad 1 losses. If they lose to dook, which they won't, then they definitely need to make it to the semi-finals to have a chance and the finals to feel confident about making they tourney.
Performance in the Maui Invitational not withstanding, however, this team is built for a multiple day tournament.
Does the margin of a loss on Saturday really matter as far as our tournament resume is concerned? Obviously losing by 40 would hurt our advanced metrics more than losing a close one, but I think at the end of the day either result would still mean that we have to make it to the ACCT finals to feel confident in an at-large berth.Obviously, beating dook would be awesome and would essentially put us in the NCAAT, but what we really can’t afford is to let dook blow us out again.
There’s a clear path forward for us to make the tournament if we can keep the dook game under a 10 point loss and we reach the ACCT semifinals.
