i didn't notice this during the broadcast but they just replayed highlights and their shorts are indeed noticeably shorter than ours, lol.
 
First ranked team to go down - #13 Texas A&M loses at UCF (which is a very tough opener).
 
THE GOOD

- RJ had 7 rebounds, 7 assists, and scored 24 with 5 quick points when the Heels were down by two
- Cadeau was 3-4 from three with 8 assists, 2 blocks, and three steals
- Trimble was 3-4 from three along with his solid D
- Withers had 10 boards and 2 threes
- Lubin had 7 rebounds, 2 blocks, and a steal in 17 minutes of action
- the team shot nearly 41% from three and over 81% from the foul line
- the team had 7 blocks, 11 steals, and a 22-6 A/TO ratio

THE BAD

- the Heels out-rebounded Elon by only 3
- we shot 40% from the field
- there was some incredibly sloppy ball in the second half that let Elon back into the game
- Elon had a 2-POINT LEAD late in the second half
- Cade Tyson looked like he belonged on Blue Steel

THE UGLY

- we struggled with ELON well into the second half
- the next game is AT KANSAS ... lord help us
 
The TRIO each played 30+ minutes and scored 62% of the points. They shot 17-38 or 45% from the field, taking 48% of the shots.
 
Try not to overreact to one game, but that was about as alarming as it gets for a season opener against a cupcake opponent lol.

I do actually think it’s a good thing that we play @ KU next. That will either force us to step up our level of play considerably if we want to at least hang with them, or it’ll be a soul cleansing beatdown that will hopefully jolt the team awake.

Yeah, I’m typically one who doesn’t put too much stock in a season opening game, knowing there will be a lot of kinks to work out. But that was Elon. Maybe they will surprise people, but they are projected to be one of the worst teams in the country. I am very concerned about our inside game. I knew it wouldn’t be great, but now I’m not yet sure if it will be adequate. We’re likely going to struggle to rebound and protect the rim.

Last night they didn't shoot like they were.
 
I really want to beat KU. Lost every matchup since Rashad and Co. went absolutely HAM on them in 2002. Not looking too promising Friday.

When do we get the return game?
 
This team better get used to facing a zone because they will see it often

Multiples 3s by Withers, Cadeau, and Trimble is a very welcome sight

Lubin didn't get many mins but was productive. Not sure about his defense yet
 
We are a small team so defensively that's going to be a challenge all year. Fortunately we have a plethora of bucket getters. Going to be a fun and sometimes frustrating year, but what else is new?

Zone defenses are much easier to score against so I hope you’re right.
