Crazy to think that we had 3 guys on that 2009 team who at some point in their career were ACC POY. That’s the only team in UNC basketball history to have that many. 1956 and 1958 had 2 (Lennie Rosenbluth and Pete Brennan). 1958 had 2 (Brennan and Lee Shaffer). And 1975 and 1976 had 2 (Mitch Kupchak and Phil Ford).

I forgot that Zeller won it as a senior. But though he was on the 09 team, he was barely on the court that year because injury. It does get you thinking of how good the team could have been had he not missed basically the whole season.

ACC POY is subjective as hell.

No knowledgeable, objective viewer of college basketball is going to look at Charles Scott and JJ Redick as ACC POY and say, “They’re comparable.”

No one is looking at Sampson, Worthy, Ferry, and Hansbrough and saying, “They’re comparable.” Worthy was never ACC POY.

Redick and Hansbrough were ACC POY. I’d argue neither is a Top 75 player in the ACC.

Please name the 75th best player in ACC history, who was supposedly better than Tyler Hansbrough.

That last paragraph is a scalding hot take lol

Charles Scott was never ACC POY. He got robbed.

And Hansbrough is easily a top 75 all-time ACC player. Easily top 50. Arguably top 25, and even arguably top 10.

Sounds like Seth is starting

Cadeau, RJ Davis, Trimble, Tyson. & Washington then?

Or will Coach Davis defer to Carolina experience and go Cadeau, RJ Davis, Trimble, Withers, & Washington?

Tyson brings firepower. Presumably Withers would bring defense and rebounding.

Leaving Jackson or Tyson sitting at the tip could herald greater attention to playing more players and putting Iron Five/Six past to rest. Coach has said he wants UNC to be the fastest team in the country between the foul lines.

I mean it was already one of the best college bball teams of the last 15 years - a few more minutes of freshman Zeller wouldn't have made more than a marginal difference.

Why are you ignoring Tom Owens?

Owens was indeed a pox (so was Kevin Joyce for that matter) but later on he played some good minutes for the Carolina Cougars and he kinda slipped out of that group leaving the Three Rs.

You’d be 100% wrong .

Unless what you mean is that neither Redick or Hansbrough was one of the best 75 NBA players to come out of the ACC, this is a shockingly bad take. Hansbrough is a lot closer to top 10 all time ACC players than outside the top 75, and honestly Redick probably is too. Just a stupendously bad take.
