But that isn’t necessarily what this team will be all season.Bottom line: We are a small guard-heavy team that can't shoot or defend. That's a recipe for disaster in today's landscape.

Oh for sure. I'm just worried that he doesn't know how to correct things.Lotta season left.
Hubert won’t quit on them.
GT got a lot of good shots. Luckily they didn't hit a lot of them. Defense did not look much better. Nothing looked much better, if at all.Defense was relatively good against GT. GT only got .86 PPP when their aOE for the season is 1.08. Carolina's aDE went from mid 60s to 45th now. Now 45th isn't good enough to have the type of season they and we want, but it's an improvement and a step forward. Carolina's aOE has gone from elite (top 5) early in the season to 25th. If Carolina can combine early season offense with today's defense, they can have a really good season.
Press conferences are a lotta coach-speak. What coaches tell the media may be vastly different from what they tell their players.
What can I, or anyone else say, which is not overly positive, that won't come across to you as giving up on them, or that I am taking joy in their struggles? You seem to view all criticism as just shitting on the team.Yeah. It’s not unusual for UNC fans to give up on the team in the early season. That’s been going on for many years. There are also those who get some perverse joy from Hubert’s struggles.
He might not know today but he’s not going to stop trying either.Oh for sure. I'm just worried that he doesn't know how to correct things.
I understand he's not, neither is the staff, nor will I. Saying I'm worried about him not being able to figure it out is not the same as saying he won't.He might not know today but he’s not going to stop trying either.
Not having it all figured out today doesn’t mean it won’t happen.
Of course it’s always preferable to have Plan A work from day one but that’s not the case here.
Plan A was having RJ being last year's RJ and everything building off that. Seeing the ball go in the basket does remarkable things for enthusiasm. He might not know today but he’s not going to stop trying either.

What was your IC username? What can I, or anyone else say, which is not overly positive, that won't come across to you as giving up on them, or that I am taking joy in their struggles? You seem to view all criticism as just shitting on the team.

I can understand that. There's a difference between presenting the positive POV and constantly questioning the fandom of folks who point out reality. What was your IC username?
I’m just presenting the positive POV. I’m not expecting or trying to convince anyone to agree with me. I believe the possibility still exists that this team will be good. I’m not saying they are good right now.
While Carolina's bigs may be a bit undersized, it isn't fair to say there is no post threat. Lubin is shooting 77%. Washington is shooting 66% on 2FGA. Withers is a threat, even if inconsistent. Even Claude is career 55% 2FG% and a great offensive rebounder. The lack of a "post threat" or "post presence" hasn't had too much of a negative impact on Trimble, Jackson, or Powell's ability to hit 3s. Carolina's bigs didn't have a good offensive game today, but they have had good offensive games this season and will no doubt have more.Yeah, but without any post threat there is so much pressure on the guards to hit 3s and to get turnovers so they can get transition baskets. Getting 2s in the half court defense is so hard because there is no post presence and the other team just keeps their bigs in the lane to defend the drives.
Probably just a reflex from years on the IC freeboard.I can understand that. There's a difference between presenting the positive POV and constantly questioning the fandom of folks who point out reality.
Ah, that is understandable. But hell, I had a subscription to the premium board for three months (they had a promotion deal), and it didn't seem much better...at least at that time.Probably just a reflex from years on the IC freeboard.

Yea, I did a drive by today. Three threads and I had to leave. Many there can't really be fans, so much over the top negativity.Probably just a reflex from years on the IC freeboard.
I have learned to check about 4-5 folks posts-and ignore the rest..It is tediousYea, I did a drive by today. Three threads and I had to leave. Many there can't really be fans, so much over the top negativity.
Yes, the team is struggling, doesn't mean it's the end...
A positive take. Appreciated.I don't like how we're playing. I think that the biggest issue is getting RJ back close to form. We're going to have a problem inside with our size and I hope we can compensate somehow.
Otoh, I remain more a fan of the team than of the team's success and, although I'm troubled with how we played, three of our losses are to Final Four quality teams. I'm not calling us done in the first half of December.
True, but those 2 players had missed the previous 2 and 3 games
