Been saying it since the beginning of the season. Without a big that can really contribute, the Heels need to get turnovers so they can run for easy baskets and hit 3s to win against good teams. They're defense isn't good enough to get turnovers so they can run, and they're not shooting good enough from 3. Very lucky to win today against a mediocre team. I hate to say it because he's a former Heel and a good man, but Hubert is going to be on the hotseat if they don't make the tournament.

Hey with the NIL and transfer portal basically leading us to free agency, when does the first mid-season transfer happen?

Could someone transfer between semesters and play in January?

My observations: 1. The defense is still horrible. GT got numerous good shots, luckily they didn't make a ton of them. 2. This team has no confidence in the coaches. They can see things going wrong and they don't feel like their coaches know how to fix it...if that is even possible. But, at the end of the day, you have to gain the trust and confidence of your players. Absolute must.

How do you know the players don’t have confidence in the coaches?

It seems clear from their body language/emotion, or lack of. Rob hit on it too in the podcast.

Whether it's the coaching, schemes, themselves, they don't look confident at all

Great question. Also, as Rob points out, why not even go inside a few times?

Yeah, almost no attempt to play to any strengths besides RJ/Elliot/Ian dribbling around high ball screens

Maybe time to stop spamming those. Would love to know their PPP on those plays this season vs last

The lack of off the ball movement is pretty remarkable. I can’t even think about the defense.

I've supported Hubert all along, but hasn't a lack of ball movement been something that people have complained about Hubert's teams since his first season? I think I've read some posters saying that's been a weakness of his teams here since he became the head coach.

Carolina was getting to the line a lot early in the season, even against KU and Dayton. In games 2-5 (KU, American, Hawai'i, and Dayton) Carolina averaged 33 FTAs/g. In games 6-9 (Aub, Mich St, Ala, GT), Carolina averaged 19 FTAs/g. It's no secret that the defense is only good when they really want to be, but why aren't the Heels getting to the line more? Most of the difference is Davis, Cadeau, and Trimble. Did Auburn break Carolina's guards' ability to get to the line? Are Carolina's guards not taking the ball to the rim as much now?

3s, layups, and frees are the winning formula. Getting fouled allows Carolina to take the most efficient shots in the game, but also gets the opponents into foul trouble. My 2 cents:
1. gotta play better defense consistently
2. guards (and wings) gotta drive and seek contact
