Like I said for Elliot, it had to start somewhere for Cade. Team lacks shooting and needs to find it wherever they can. Not expecting miracles but 10 mins and 3-5 shots in ACC play seems doable

Very few mins with RJ + EC together. Granted both played < 30 but could be some of the answer defensively going forward. Ian and EC were effective without being overly aggressive. 10 assists - 1 turnover

Is it time to try out more James Brown? 3 beautiful rolls to the basket which is more than we've seen from Jwash all season

He looked good tonight'' Yea it was Laselle..........
This is my concern, yes he hit some open threes. Is that because he's catching up with the speed of the game at this level or is it because Laselle is a step slower than the teams we have lost to?

The one kid on Laselle was 17th in his high school class? According to the announcers. I always wander what the motivation of a high ranked kid to go to a school that isn't a normal powerhouse.

I think he's catching up with the game. His floor game and rebounding looked about as much better as his shooting did. The competition was probably part of it but he just played better.

La Salle was leaving him pretty open, at least initially

But you could tell his shots were all in rhythm. Not forced or second guessed like games prior

If he is simply someone teams have to guard it's going to help the offense

It’s such a small sample size, but from the very little bits I see of James Brown, it seems he has a better grasp on how to play as a big than our other bigs, with the possible exception of Lubin, who just doesn’t have a lot of height for his position.

As for Washington, what is frustrating is that not only are the deficiencies that we saw from him last season still there, but he doesn’t seem to be doing things he did well last season nearly as well now.

Some brief observations 10 games in:

Yesterday against La Salle, Ian Jackson was +30, the third highest +/- for any Tar Heel this season. It was also the first game all season his +/- was positive. Even his breakout game against Alabama he was -7. He is still -16 for the season. (defense matters)

RJ Davis has shot better than 33.3% 3FG% only once all season, 4/10 against Dayton. In addition to his MASSIVE drop off in offensive production, his defensive rating, which has been between 102.9 and 103.8 all 4 years, is currently at 108.8. Davis hasn't led the team in +/- a single game this season. His assists and steals are up marginally, but somethin' ain't right. I wonder if the 4-20 (0-9 3FG) game against Alabama in the tournament is still in his head. 7-24 (1-11 3FG) in the redemption game wouldn't help matters.

Withers and Washington both were more productive last season, which may speak to Bacot's gravity (in more ways than one). Lubin has earned more minutes with his offense and defense.

Withers has led the team in +/- 3 games this season, Trimble 2 games, Cadeau 2 games, Powell 2 games, and now Jackson 1. After 4 games, Cadeau was +88. In the most recent 6 games, he's -21. Washington is a somewhat surprising +42 for the season.

Carolina has quality depth this season, but don't yet have consistency. Trimble has been awesome, Davis has struggled, Washington and Withers seem to have digressed. Jackson and Powell can be great. For Christmas (before Tuesday, please), I would like to see the defense continue to improve, better rebounding, Davis get back to last season's Davis, and everyone seek contact and get to the FT line more.

If there's a game for RJ to remember how to shoot... let's hope it is Florida

They start 6'10 and 6'11 and as a team get about 6 blocks per game. Two leading scorers are 6'2 and 6'3, which fares well at least

One of the few teams I haven't watched this year. I assume they will be comfortable favorites

Where do you think the line will open? UF -6 or so?
