I so hope some popular or prominent PA Democrat primaries him when he's up for a second term. I don't think he could win a Democratic primary now, although given his behavior so far I could see him insisting on running as an independent in the general election just to throw the election to the Republican candidate. The guy was allowed to check into the hotel where the president would be speaking with multiple weapons, no additional screening of any hotel guests.

He was able to go from 10th floor down to the event with a long gun and was not stopped before then.

A more seriously planned attack would have stood a very good chance of seeing several (likely famous) people killed.

This shit all went down right by Wolf Blitzer, so it was certainly closer to the target than the above description

Nothing you can do about any of that. The long gun was surely hidden by clothes. You can’t scan the luggage of thousands of hotel guests; that is not how hotels work. There always has to be an initial security barrier at any event and that is where the guy was caught. Is it possible a Paris-style attack with multiple machine guns could have made it downstairs into the dining room? Maybe. But there was a shit ton of security there and it is highly unlikely they would have made it to the president.

Now, if someone wants to kill Wolf Blitzer, that would be pretty easy.

If Trump had been killed, no doubt most of his MAGA base would have been devastated, but does anyone here really believe that most DC GOP members of Congress or other high-ranking Republicans would have been upset at all? I suspect that many of them would secretly have been happy or even thrilled to see him go, and would have welcomed Vance with open arms, as he's much more controllable and their type of guy.

Manifesto is an interesting read — he veers from seemingly sincere apologies to family and friends, consideration of his Christian faith on his intended acts and a desire not to target or harm law enforcement or bystanders to, well, wanting to murder Trump Administration officials. He does not present as disorganized or delusional so much as dismayed and deeply misguided in how to respond to that.
