It only takes one screw up in the blue wall states to throw this election. Noted on Morning Joe, there was some concern about the transgender ad Trump is using full force in those states and almost no push back from Harris Campaign. Shades of Swift boating?

But, in this case you have to wonder why not much push back? Could it be a reluctance to butt heads with a Dem special interest group that the push back would cause?

Maybe because we never were likely to get the votes of people bothered by that. Maybe because pushing back gets it more attention. Maybe because people who are offended are too stupid and too big of a jerk to want on our side, despite needing the votes. Maybe not wanting to roll around in the pig manure with the swine who love it. Maybe all of these.

Yeah all of these, plus it’s almost impossible to finesse this issue. It’s incredibly complicated.

President Kerry's thought process was somewhat similar. And actually, to respond is an interesting gambit because this is actually a Trump policy that Trump is complaining about. Have a feeling there are some very clever ways to respond to this one.

There are plenty of chimeras that could be chased. This seems off message and too defensive.

I knew that it had its origins with Trump and it would be clever. The cleverness would be wasted and the story disbelieved so why bother?

It's a pretty stupid ass ad, honestly. You can tell the way they have pieced together the clips. I just doubt it's been very effective

Perhaps. But not responding appropriately to such things have always proven to be a killer.

You might want to reexamine your thoughts about this if you equate it with Swiftboating. This should, for someone who respects other people, be some serious small change.

Don't disagree. My point is lack of response. It could simply be pointed out that this was Trump's policy. Ask has he flipped flopped? Put him on defensive or something. There are ways to do it. People get paid to figure out how. These things matter big time in the closing weeks. No response is always noted and bad.
