I vote early simply because it would really suck if something happened to me on or shortly before Election Day and I couldn’t vote because of it.
In 2008, I voted early because between the start of early voting and election day, I was undergoing an operation that had a 10-day survival rate that not nearly as high as I would have liked. I was really bummed when I found out that the election folks actually check to determine if early voters survived until election day. But I did survive, and on Election night my brother and I stayed up until around 4 am, despite the election have been called for Obama earlier. We were staying up to see in Obama would carry NC. HE DID!

Is someone spraying spittle all over this thread? Or is the thread broke? I keep seeing a bolded title but few new posts.
Do you have anyone on super ignore? If you do and there are posts by that person or posts replying to that person, the thread title will show bold but you won't be able to see any new posts. Nor will the thread title go back to normal after you visit the thread because you aren't seeing the post(s) that cause it to be bold.

So glad you survived, my friend.

What I’m saying is that almost every person who is applauding this at a Trump rally has never even seen a transgender person. It is an irrelevant aspect of life for the vast majority of the population yet MAGA treats it like it’s the most important issue facing our country today. You are being manipulated.
I’d say they’ve seen trans people…..they just don’t know they’ve seen a trans person.

I think it's fun to vote on election day when all of the attention is on the election and you feel like you're part of a bigger event.

But it's also a pain to make a random Tuesday work and so I vote early nearly every time.
If the US made voting easy by making the Election Day a national holiday, I’d love voting on that day. But of course we do not, because….??? ….too many of the wrong people might actually vote. So I prefer to vote early in person.

Some States do-I know West By God Virginia does

Give Trump credit for one thing. He figured out early on that the entire Republican party, and every single one of its voters, are a bunch of submissive beta cucks who relish being lied to and assumed to be easy marks. He exploited it masterfully.

Yep. As I’ve mentioned before, I was anti-Trump in 2016, but can give folks a pass for getting duped once. It’s anyone since about 6 months after he took office who still supports him (or doesn’t like him but clutches their pearls and still votes for him) who I have no respect for.

Same here. Perfectly stated. I was one of the moronic idiots who voted for him in 2016. Six months into his time in office was Charlottesville. Permanently lost me then.

On Nicole Wallace yesterday they were discussing the NY Times poll and dived down into one question about trustworthiness where Harris has over a 10 point advantage (maybe it was 15?) Anyway comparing it to 2016, Harris and Clinton had similar favorability ratings, but in 2016 Clinton and Trump were rated about the same in trustworthiness. The trust advantage could really help Harris in 2024's election.

The above is a really interesting perspective on the differences between male and female politicians in general and between Trump and Harris in particular. It raises the issue of "protection" in a way that I, as a male, never really thought about. It also raises what a narrow path female politicians, like Harris, must walk.

ETA: The author makes the point that men providing protection to women far too often provide a protection racket, as in, pay for my protection or I'm the one you'll need to be protected from.
