Yeah, this, moreso than any specific policy issue, is what I think fundamentally binds Trump's MAGA supporters to him. They crave the ability to say whatever you want, about whoever and whatever you want, whenever you want, and not have a care in the world for truthfulness, empathy, consistency, or any sort of principles. They have watched Trump do that for decades, and especially in the last 12 years or so, and crave that ability for themselves. They want to be JD Vance, currently cosplaying as Trump lite, dismissing callous insults one second by saying "lighten up Francis" and then turning around the next and being gravely offended at anything remotely disparaging about HIS side. They want to SAY "fuck your feelings" to the losers and suckers they disagree with but if anyone calls THEM losers and suckers, their feelings are obviously very important.I think in our current political climate, the luxury of being a Trump supporter is that you're able to go into nearly any controversy knowing that there's no set of principles to which you can be held, while at the same time knowing that non-Trump supporters will still likely hold themselves to their own.
But don't forget: the MSM unfairly focuses on Trump's lies and doesn't expose those made by Harris. Oh, … wait. Can literally deny reality and not bat an eye, and then laugh when we try to show proof or facts. It's part of the gig. Being able to just troll your way through life, and then dismiss reality when it doesn't fit your point of view.

Just a whole army of thin-skinned reactionary bullies, wanting the freedom to do whatever they want while openly cheering for the Trump admin to put their political enemies directly under the boot heel. We need to put them in the fucking trash can next week, and every other election they want to run in. But at some point we're gonna have to find a way to deal with the fire hose of BS pouring out of Musk, Charlie Kirk, Posobiec, etc or this is never gonna end.
Tay tay is on a different level right now. Nothing bad can happen from her showing out for Kamala, imho.I just recall so many celeb endorsements and gatherings for Hillary in 2016, that I just don't want a repeat of that. It feels awfully similar, so someone walk me back on that thinking.
Oh yeah, the GOP is fucked. They are about to go through some things post-Trump. Anyone who thinks that the party is going to just pick right up and move along seamlessly to the next chapter is militantly delusional.100% this, but I think there's also an important angle here about just screwed the republican party is no without Trump. A few years ago you heard from many prominent republicans a bunch of stuff about, "we can't let Trump be the face of the party anymore - we'll get slaughtered electorally!" but by late 2023 nearly all of republicans still in office lined up behind him. I think this is because the republicans know that at this point they have no significant voter base that's tied to the party - it's all just this rage and hate tied to Trump. In becoming the party of Trump, the republican party has lost all sensible moderate voters, possibly for a generation, which means that their only hope in elections is to harness the low propensity voters that Trump excites. This bore out on a relatively small scale in 2018 when Trump was in office (but not on the ballot) - he tried to drum up his supporters to get out for those midterms but it didn't happen. If Trump leaves the picture entirely, the republican party is absolutely hosed, and I can't see any of the "trump-lite" personalities having much success drawing his voter base in the future.
I won't go so far as to say they'll pick right up and move seamlessly along, but I'm not convinced the whole thing will fall apart post-Trump. The party definitely is not going to be able to maneuver back to a center-right identity after Trump, and definitely won't be able to silence the wackos, because they can't win anything without them. But although I don't know who it will be (though I do have some strong opinions about who it won't be), the MAGA base is likely going to coalesce around some other pied piper after Trump finally exits the scene, and whoever consolidates that MAGA support will drag the remaining center-right part of the party back down into the swamp with them. It may take an election cycle to work itself out, but I don't think there will be any permanent schism between MAGA and the Rubios/Grahams/Cruzes/etc of the Republican Party. It's not impossible that a center-right candidate could emerge to consolidate the moderate wing of the party faster than any one person is able to consolidate the MAGA wing of the party - hence the fact that it could take an election cycle to work out - but ultimately whoever controls the MAGA crazies is going to control the right-most major party in the US.Oh yeah, the GOP is fucked. Some purging of MAGA looney toons will have to happen, but getting rid of Trump will start the healing.Oh yeah, the GOP is fucked. They are about to go through some things post-Trump. This would be a good discussion for the post-election season here, which may not be until next February or so, but I see it as a little simpler than this. I agree that if Trump loses, he's done, as is his family. A post-Trump GOP will be a massive internal struggle between the Mike Johnson/JD Vance/Jim Jordan wing, and the Nikki Haley/Larry Hogan wing, with wet noodles like Cruz, Rubio and DeSantis somewhere in the middle. My money would be on the Christofascist wing to prevail, but every person in that group is VASTLY less able to communicate with Trump's MAGA base than Trump is himself. Our country would be far better served by having the Haley/Hogan wing prevail, but a whole bunch of GOP jellyfish will need to find a spine for that to happen.I won't go so far as to say they'll pick right up and move seamlessly along, but I'm not convinced the whole thing will fall apart post-Trump. If you put a gun to my head and asked who the person most likely to end up the MAGA leader after Trump, I would guess Tucker Carlson, but that's not a remotely confident guess. Given his new role on the right, and the platform he has, Elon Musk may well be able to dictate who it is. I do not think it will be any member of the Trump family; I feel pretty confident that people are gonna toss them to the curb the second Daddy is out of the picture. Honestly Barron may have the best chance of any other Trump to end up as a MAGA prince.
He'll probably be dead by then, or even better, imprisoned, but on the off chance that neither of those happen, I hope and pray they run him in 2028.Won't be surprised when they nominate trump again in 2028 personally.

Agree. I will believe Trump is not the nominee when it actually happens. If he runs again, he would already have 40% at LEAST of the GOP electorate in the bag. Any primary of more than 2 or 3 challengers is guaranteed to nominate him as everyone else splits the vote. The only chance would be people dropping out extremely early to coalesce around one challenger.Won't be surprised when they nominate trump again in 2028 personally.
