There are 756 billionaires in the US alone. I think it is appropriate to say average billionaire.

I didn’t say that any of them are the average American. Within every subset there is going to be some that are around the average of that subset - whatever metric you are using.

Not sure why that language seemed odd to anyone.

1. I'm not sure how many of the rich people who aren't diehards are supporting him. Jamie Dimon, for instance, reportedly favors Kamala. Probably for that reason.
2. Elon probably doesn't give a fuck because of his wealth and also he stands to gain from government contracts with SpaceX
3. They probably think they can convince Trump not to do it. Because everyone thinks they can handle Trump.
That reminds me of a conversation I had with my bother in law while in Dallas this weekend for a family gathering. He is an extremely smart guy, Vanderbilt grad, executive level attorney.

He doesn’t like Trump but said he can’t vote for Harris because of some of her crazy ideas like instituting price controls. I actually agree with that but Harris isn’t going to get those things passed. I don’t even believe she really would try. My point is that he can’t argue that Trump won’t really deport 10 million people but assume Harris would get price controls passed. And if both are real possibilities then I would take the latter as the least bad policy.

I would have loved to hear what my sister (his wife) would have said about the conversation but she passed a year ago.

"He doesn’t like Trump ..."

How's he feeling about a tariff-based economy?

I am loathe to give Trump credit for much of anything, but he absolutely nailed it with the ‘Birdbrain’ moniker.
Nikki has definitely sold her soul and has thus disqualified herself from the universe of credible candidates even if MAGA recedes, but I don't see this as a sign of her lack of intelligence. If anything, Trump is the idiot for not using her in the final stretch. Trump has clearly decided he wants to close on open and overt racism, misogyny, vulgarity and bitterness, and not on any of the things Haley could say to help him with moderates. I think that's a huge mistake on his part, but I guess we'll see.

Oh yeah, great points. Agree with you. She’s definitely not unintelligent by any means. She’s just a craven coward.

She’s basically been TedCruzed. Also, she’ll appear once or twice in these final days for an attempt to shave 0.2 margins in PA, IMO.

She didn't have a choice if she wants to run in '28. She had to endorse him or MAGA would have ruined her. Doesn't make it right.

Tonight's speech on the Ellipse could not come at a better time. The media has been talking nonstop about Trump, and not in a positive way. We're one week out now, so even the people who hate politics are finally tuning in. The backdrop should be great. The symbolism should be great. And Kamala does really well with these types of speeches, probably because she's made hundreds of actual closing arguments in her career. I'm excited to hear it, and I have a strong feeling it will be a big positive for her as we enter crunch time.

Agree. Feels like it has the chance to be a consequential moment. What a stark contrast she'll be able to draw - both because of the location and because of the recent rhetoric from the Trump side.

I mean, I chuckled, but understood clearly what you meant.

Absolutely. She needs to present the stark contrast between her hopeful vision and Trump's hateful vision. She needs to hammer Trump or his violent and offensive rhetoric and associations, but that should not be the core of her speech. It is a fine line, for sure. But this is a speech to instill a sense of hope about America. It is a build people up speech.
