She didn't have a choice if she wants to run in '28. She had to endorse him or MAGA would have ruined her. Doesn't make it right.
 
Tonight's speech on the Ellipse could not come at a better time. The media has been talking nonstop about Trump, and not in a positive way. We're one week out now, so even the people who hate politics are finally tuning in. The backdrop should be great. The symbolism should be great. And Kamala does really well with these types of speeches, probably because she's made hundreds of actual closing arguments in her career. I'm excited to hear it, and I have a strong feeling it will be a big positive for her as we enter crunch time.

Agree. Feels like it has the chance to be a consequential moment. What a stark contrast she'll be able to draw - both because of the location and because of the recent rhetoric from the Trump side.

Absolutely. She needs to present the stark contrast between her hopeful vision and Trump's hateful vision. She needs to hammer Trump or his violent and offensive rhetoric and associations, but that should not be the core of her speech. It is a fine line, for sure. But this is a speech to instill a sense of hope about America. It is a build people up speech.

I don't want to sound like one of those people who dismiss everything Trump says, but even if he's elected, the odds RFK actually has a role in Trump's administration are about 2%.

Michelle Obama’s platforms were so positive and could have helped so much when it came to Covid. The country is fat and getting fatter. Yet Republicans mocked it and got big slurpies and candy bars.

What? I'd say it's pretty much assured unless the roadblock is Senate approval and the Pubs can't get him through the Senate.

Trump doesn't care who carries out the details of his administration and he'll reward loyalty unless there's a reason not to (or until he decides someone is no longer sufficiently loyal).

They won't get him through the Senate to do the shit he's talking about.

But more importantly, Trump doesn't give a shit about RFK. He just liked the name. RFK is going to be more Peter Navarro than anyone important.

You find a lot of things hard to believe just because they don't happen to you. You are but a pimple on a pimple on a pimple. We all are. But some of us have tried to learn about the world instead of pretending that the whole thing revolves around us.

Here's a hint. A lot of shit happens in the world. If it doesn't happen to you, then good for you -- you've been fortunate. Those who are less fortunate are not in the same place.

I just have a feeling Trump thinks RFK is a complete idiot and will have no qualms about tossing him over the side if he wins.

Just as an aside, I don't think there's any way Kamala made hundreds of closing arguments in her career. Maybe a couple dozen.
