I’m truly not trying to spike the football by any stretch of the imagination, but this is exactly why I was so confident the other day that the needless panicking over whatever Biden said on a zoom interview was just that, needless panicking. There was exactly 0% chance that Trump could go any stretch of time without saying something unimaginably outlandish. Last night he openly called for the execution of a political opponent by firing squad. Joe Biden was exactly right, even if it was a gaffe: Donald Trump supporters are garbage, and every single time Trump opens his mouth to speak we are reminded exactly why Biden was correct.
And that doesn’t even take into account he was being interviewed by a possible demon-possessed Tucker Carlson.

My own wild personal theory is that the demon-possession thing was some bizarre rationalization Tucker had to create to cover up being caught in some sort of comprised position by his wife. Like, he had a wild night with some women and snuck back into the house, his wife saw him the next morning and was like OMG CLAW MARKS ON YOUR BACK, he was OMG A DEMON MUST HAVE DONE IT IN MY SLEEP and now he has to talk about it publicly because his wife is constantly like OMG TELL THEM ABOUT THE THING THE DEMON DID.

That or he's just nuts.

Yeah, every woman I've spoken with about that story had the exact same reaction. I wonder if the demon gave him chlamydia, too.

I think in our current political climate, the luxury of being a Trump supporter is that you're able to go into nearly any controversy knowing that there's no set of principles to which you can be held, while at the same time knowing that non-Trump supporters will still likely hold themselves to their own.

Can literally deny reality and not bat an eye, and then laugh when we try to show proof or facts. It's part of the gig. Being able to just troll your way through life, and then dismiss reality when it doesn't fit your point of view.

I hate to break this to Miles but there ain’t no more damn conservatives remaining in the Republican Party or voter base, so there are no conservatives left to condemn this

Yeah, this, moreso than any specific policy issue, is what I think fundamentally binds Trump's MAGA supporters to him. They crave the ability to say whatever you want, about whoever and whatever you want, whenever you want, and not have a care in the world for truthfulness, empathy, consistency, or any sort of principles. They have watched Trump do that for decades, and especially in the last 12 years or so, and crave that ability for themselves. They want to be JD Vance, currently cosplaying as Trump lite, dismissing callous insults one second by saying "lighten up Francis" and then turning around the next and being gravely offended at anything remotely disparaging about HIS side. They want to SAY "fuck your feelings" to the losers and suckers they disagree with but if anyone calls THEM losers and suckers, their feelings are obviously very important.

Just a whole army of thin-skinned reactionary bullies, wanting the freedom to do whatever they want while openly cheering for the Trump admin to put their political enemies directly under the boot heel. We need to put them in the fucking trash can next week, and every other election they want to run in. But at some point we're gonna have to find a way to deal with the fire hose of BS pouring out of Musk, Charlie Kirk, Posobiec, etc or this is never gonna end.

But don't forget: the MSM unfairly focuses on Trump's lies and doesn't expose those made by Harris. Oh, … wait.

100% this, but I think there's also an important angle here about just screwed the republican party is no without Trump. A few years ago you heard from many prominent republicans a bunch of stuff about, "we can't let Trump be the face of the party anymore - we'll get slaughtered electorally!" but by late 2023 nearly all of republicans still in office lined up behind him. I think this is because the republicans know that at this point they have no significant voter base that's tied to the party - it's all just this rage and hate tied to Trump. In becoming the party of Trump, the republican party has lost all sensible moderate voters, possibly for a generation, which means that their only hope in elections is to harness the low propensity voters that Trump excites. This bore out on a relatively small scale in 2018 when Trump was in office (but not on the ballot) - he tried to drum up his supporters to get out for those midterms but it didn't happen. If Trump leaves the picture entirely, the republican party is absolutely hosed, and I can't see any of the "trump-lite" personalities having much success drawing his voter base in the future.

Not sure whether this is the best place for this, but I'm hoping that the Harris campaign plays Trump's "grab 'em by the pussy" comments in ads throughout any swing state. I was sort of surprised to hear that young voters were not really aware of this comment, but this was 8 years ago. And this seems like something that could galvanize young women voters to vote for Harris.

Oh yeah, the GOP is fucked. They are about to go through some things post-Trump. Anyone who thinks that the party is going to just pick right up and move along seamlessly to the next chapter is militantly delusional.
