I think the frustrating thing about you is that you recognize the absurdity of people like Musk, Trump, and RFK and are still often like "let's see how this works out before judging; you guys are just overreacting."
That is probably the biggest difference between me and many of the liberal posters here (and conservative posters on other sites). I don't share in the panic and overreaction. Life and the country will go on.

I've said previously that I was a hardcore right winger many years ago. I sat in my car at lunch and listened to Hannity and Rush. I watched Fox News and truly believed that the "country was ending" if we didn't stop Obama from being elected.... and then the country was going to end if we didn't stop Obama from being re-elected.... (but I though it was supposed to have already ended in his first term?)

There are things I'm more concerned about than others, of course.

As it relates to flu vaccine meeting.... who cares? They might as well throw a dart. They suck a picking the right vax anyway.

Aside from callatoroy, the ultimate useless twat, I think I despise you more than anyone else here. You obviously have average intelligence, something OG, Ram, heelyeah and callatoroy don't come close to approaching. The fact that you are here everyday, accomplishing nothing but mediocre contrarianism, is just gross and fucking weird.

I really look forward to the dumb rubes inevitably causing civil war 2, and you dumbfounded, confused and wondering about why my shit is on your face.
No civil war on the immediate horizon. We, as a nation, have become too placid for that. Otherwise, we would be seeing 100,000s in the streets. Jan 6 would look like a preschool picnic compared to the scene at the Capital Building. Instead, we're just lapping up the Kool-Aid while the "termite queen like" President pumps out illegal executive orders. We, as a nation, have f'ed ourselves.

extreme privilege and naivete and a staggering lack of empathy.

how you can still parrot this nonsense while we're watching devastating dynamics play out in real-time is mind-numbing.
What is this devastation you speak of? Surely it can't be people getting fired. That happens all the time. Thousands were just fired from, I believe, Facebook the other day. Thousands from Google a few months ago.

I took kind of a similar journey except the exact opposite. I was a much more hardcore liberal. All the Doom and gloom on the old ZZL got to me. And then you realize that it never happens. All those things that were going to happen during Trump's first term, nothing of substance happened except for a big tax cut for wealthy people and an extra conservative on the Supreme Court. That's a big deal, but it's not the same as Trump starting nuclear Armageddon which was bandied about at the time.

And we're hearing the same thing this time around: Trump is a dictator. Trump is a Nazi. Trump is never going to have another election. Trump is a Russian mole.

I have a feeling that once again, nothing substantial is going to happen except for a big tax cut for rich people. The GOP will get slaughtered in the midterms and we will have a new president in 2028, probably a Democrat. Cycle repeats.

Throwing a dart efficacy
2025 - 14%
2026 - 2%
2027 - CDC, NIH, FDA no longer exist
2028 - ты облажался

What you predictably fail to understand is that even a 42% efficacy rate can have a huge impact if critical mass get the vaccine. The current vaccine denial climate has lowered the numbers of people getting the flu vaccine dramatically so we can expect worse flu seasons....like this one currently estimated to be the worse in at least 15 years

Nothing of substance happened...snort

I mean that was terrible but that's not the same as Julius Caesar ending the Republic. Biden was still president at the end of all that, and none of those knuckleheads were ever going to change that.

Pence on the other hand could have caused some havoc. A secretary of State in Georgia could have certified the election for Trump. But none of that happened. We have some problems that need to be fixed in the election process but that's a with or without Trump scenario.

Let me get this straight....you're saying the proper time to worry about intentional efforts to overthrow our democracy is after they're SUCCESSFUL, not after they're thwarted and the perps are given a second bite at the apple.

Do you also put on a seatbelt only AFTER you flip your car?

Those silly knuckleheads. This dude just called them knuckleheads. lol

This is all rhetorical. Don't bother replying to me. I don't care what you have to say on the subject.

Too many people benefit financially from getting people wound up. Who's gonna watch Maddow, Jesse Watters, etc if they told the truth - "Honestly, nothing bad is really going to happen, but I don't get paid if you don't tune for your daily dose of outrage and fear."

Overturning roe v wade is bad. Objectively. Your hand-waving is limp af.

Because women need healthcare, and abortion is healthcare
In a case where there is truly a threat on the mother's life, I'd agree, but that is not how many Democrats view it. Labeling all abortion as "healthcare" is very much subjective, not objective.

I'm saying that storming the Congress was terrible and those knuckleheads never had a chance of overturning the election. So your assertion that storming Congress was somehow the precursor to ending democracy is just another one of those Doom and gloom scenarios that I was talking about.

Pretty much, and people like it. I used to like it too. Let's get scared about the latest farfetched scenario that Trump or Obama or W or Biden are about to pull the trigger on. You get older and you realize it probably doesn't mean a thing.

So now I've moved on to the enjoy telling people they're being hysterical which is probably just as dumb. You aren't changing any minds. So it's not like getting older makes me smarter.
