Half of Americans approve of Trump on immigration but support is weaker on trade, AP-NORC poll says

“… About half of U.S. adults approve of Trump’s approach to immigration, the survey shows, but only about 4 in 10 have a positive view of the way he’s handling the economy and trade negotiations.

… Views of Trump’s job performance overall are more negative than positive, the survey found. About 4 in 10 U.S. adults approve of the way Trump is handling his job as president, and more than half disapprove. Negative opinions are also stronger than positive opinions — about 4 in 10 U.S. adults strongly disapprove of Trump’s job performance, while about 2 in 10 strongly approve.

… Voters who said immigration was their most important issue last November overwhelmingly favored more restrictive policies, according to AP VoteCast, a sweeping survey of more than 120,000 voters. The issue was also a higher priority for Americans heading into 2025 than it had been the previous year. …”

I’m sure the constant fear mongering over immigrants from the right wing news bubble had little impact on this particular factoid…..

To be honest I don't think most Democrats care if Jeffries and Schumer are mad at each other, that's mostly inside-the-beltway drama that people outside of DC usually ignore. I think it's more that the overall response of the Democratic leadership to Trump 2.0 thus far is seen as weak and timid and disorganized and many Democrats are expressing their anger in these polls when asked how they feel about the Democratic Party right now.
I disapprove of the dems because they lost to trump twice. Idiots.

When is the last time we saw any Trump voter post here? Even the supposed third party voters are MIA.
Pretty good gauge of Trump’s support when the ones who were dunking all over this forum after the inauguration have given up trying to defend this shit show.

Yeah, convenient and coincidental it happens all at once - consistently. I guess everyone is making big money deals and spending time with their respective families. I look forward to their vociferous return the next time a brown trans person kites a check, or War Plans Pete needs some online knights because he texted his mistress Panama invasion plans - he was juuuust letting her know he’s such.a.big.deal.

Inevitably what happens is one pops in amidst the Trump chaos and incompetence with some lame ass explanation about “not obsessed” with politics, and that we should all lighten up, all the while the US is staring down the barrel of isolation, stagflation, brutal authoritarianism, alignment with the worst people in the world, and ostracized by the free world.

Well well well.

President Donald Trump is more popular now than before he sent the global markets into a frenzy by enacting sweeping new tariffs.
The poll found that Trump's approval rating rose to 53 percent, a 4-point increase over last week when it was 49 percent.
Trump's rising approval rating is surprising given the flak the White House has received over the tariff order signed Wednesday.
It is up by 13 points since March 7 among those aged 18 to 29.
Trump also saw a six-point increase in favorability among Democrats and independents, according to the survey.
The Republican's support among black voters skyrocketed 17 points since last week, the poll found.
When it comes to Trumps universal 10 percent tariff on all goods coming in from other countries, more Americans support the policy than oppose it.

I have no idea where you get this garbage but (1) that's not a credible poll, and (2) all but one of the polling days predated the tariff announcement. The last credible poll, which is almost three weeks old now, had Trump's approval at 43% and falling fast. I won't be at all surprised if he's below 40% by the middle of the month.

You believe absolutely everything that fits into your worldview, don't you?

Trump ran on putting America first, is doing it, and you're confused as to why he's still doing well? Polling for how the Democrat party is viewed should tell you all you need to know. Helpful tip, protesting and burning vehicles isn't a winning strategy.

No, I'm confused as to why you think he's doing well. If you lived in the real world instead of relying on trashy right wing British tabloids for your talking points, you would be equally confused about what you post here.

ETA -- I do give you credit for this, though. At least you keep showing up here. You're painfully wrong about pretty much everything, but you still have way more guts than the cowards like callatoroy and HeelYeah who have chosen to disappear rather than own up to the now obvious idiocy of their November votes.

No, I just don't trust you. So if you tell me Trump is failing and keep repeating it, I naturally assume you're overreacting again, and then draw my own conclusions.
No one asked you to trust me.

Trust the experts.

Your idea of drawing your own conclusions is to find something that agrees with your belief and c claim it is fact. That's confirmation bias, not staying your own conclusions.

The experts are reporting that Trump and his tariff mission are a horrible mistake.

Except for Peter Navarro and his made up expert.

I see no evidence that Trump is putting America first.

I see Trump destroying the federal government for no reason, trashing the alliances that made America great, kow-towing to a weak enemy state for inexplicable reasons, and crashing the economy.

Not a single one of his policies can plausibly be described as "America first."
