Try this @Centerpiece @nycfan

While I may agree with their conclusions, for me, that was a terribly written piece. Nonsense headline. Meandering "story". It was written like an animated adventure for preteens. They could've probably made a much more convincing argument with half the words. Or maybe that's just me.

Conclusion: People voted based on emotional appeals to their culture (think ideology not ethnicity). Minorities (in the US, UK, and Canada) who are more conservative in their ideology moved toward the conservatives based on culture-war arguments. Not necessarily pro-trump; more anti-woke.

ETA: Except for Bezos, I really like wapo. I really, really like data analysis. I'm fascinated by why people vote like they do. I should be the center of their target market for that piece. All that being said, it was a frustrating read. Maybe I'm just old.
Get off my lawn.
Thanks. Without reading a word, my supposition is validated.

Of course it was/is - and NBC has already gone on record as regretting they aired it. If not NBC execs themselves, the producers and directors and support staff that help put that show on the air have expressed their chagrin.
I was replying to this post by you.

Mark Burnett is THE producer and creator of The Apprentice.

I don’t think he’s expressed regret or chagrin. IIRC, he’s helped uphold NDA’s and legal agreements that keep people from exposing what a buffoon Trump is……threatening to kill careers……he’s “Mr. Reality TV;”. which makes him supremely powerful.

And I admitted I’m ignorant. My wife says I’m an asshole. I’m an ignorant asshole that doesn’t watch reality TV.

But let’s not derail the thread any further. The latest Gallup poll shows Trumps approval rating (from June 2025) is at its lowest (40) in his 2nd term. His lowest rating in his first term was 34.

But his poll does not reflect the latest Epstein kurfuffle.Gallup polling shows that Trump's approval ratings at the six-month mark in both of his terms are lower than any other modern president at the same time in their administrations, at 38% and 40% for each term respectively. The average since John F. Kennedy in 1961 is 52%, according to the polling firm.

Burnett is currently Trump's US Special Envoy to the UK, so I'm guessing he could give two shits as it seems to have worked out for him quite well.

I've also never seen an episode of The Apprentice, or any other episode of so-called "Reality TV." In the same way I never found Bill Cosby funny, I never saw the appeal of Reality TV.

My post about Mark Burnett was purely to counter a poster’s comments that producers/directors of “The Apprentice” have spoken out against Trump.

THE producer/creator of “The Apprentice,” one Mark Burnett, has worked hard to keep HIDDEN anything associated with the show that would shine a negative light on Trump. I know this about Burnett from reading newspapers and magazines.

Oh yeah…….I haven’t had a TV in 20+ years. I don’t watch TV on a computer or phone. I watch UNC sports at sports bars or with my Dad or live.

I guess we can all virtue signal that we don’t watch “reality TV.”

I do not even listen to the radio or read books. I'm blind but I write almost exclusively about paintings. Indeed, my mind is a crystalline structure of immense rational-intellectual power.

As for my shit, it gives off an exquisite fragrance.

I do have a friend that has worked on many of the "Survivor" shows over the years...I was walking down the street in Antigua, Guatemala once upon a time and someone tapped me on the shoulder, when I turned, there he was! We once worked together at The Hardback Cafe and he was in a band called "Light From August" if anyone can ID him from those clues you ought to PM me.

“Light in August” - isn’t that the correct name?

His name has the same initials as your username here and on IC.

Well, you nailed that better than I did...Faulkner is the inspiration I reckon and I got the novel's title wrong. Initials check out too.

LOL.

I never connected the band’s name with Faulkner…….a girlfriend’s best friend dated someone in the band. I never knew anyone else in the band….barely knew that guy.

Buncha English Majors as I recall. BB, DB, and John Howie...and Mike Ayers (now in The Connells)...and some other people.

OK, OK, enough of the tit for tat - apologies for derailing the thread - and apologies to Zoo_View for my jack-assery. I meant no harm and I'm obviously clueless and ignorant on the ways of Trump's Reality TV show, or any thoughts of remorse the producer(s) may or may not have had.

So back on topic:
As of the latest reports in Newsweek -
New YouGov/Economist polling, conducted between June 20-23 among 1,590 adults, shows that just 30 percent of Americans hold a very or somewhat favorable view of Democrats in Congress, while 62 percent view them unfavorably. That net rating of –32 marks a sharp slide from the start of President Trump's second term, when the favorability of congressional Democrats stood at -15 points.

Democratic pollster Matt McDermott called the results "striking," but dismissed any suggestion that they should be a cause for concern for Democrats... even though:

Congress Democrats See Favorability Ratings Hit Four-Year Low -

A majority of Americans hate Congress and like their own Representative or Senator. This has been the case for YEARS.

Few know what the Democratic or Republican Parties do today.

Some/many expect “the Democrats” to “do something.” Who are “the Democrats?” There is no Democratic leader. There won’t be until someone becomes the 2028 nominee.
