We’ll find out this offseason.
Sure, it will be definitive then. But, what have you personally seen from them that gives you the impression that they have learned/reflected and can implement the necessary changes? You are very high on the staff, why?

As a poster said earlier , to the best of my memory, it was Melendez that was notorious for tearing it up in practice.
People talked about his amazing dunking ability. Based on that, everyone wanted to see him throw down an amazing dunk in a game but it never happened. That was pretty much it with Melendez. He did eventually become a Harlem Globetrotter.

I think the concern is that HD/staff haven't done it yet (because they haven't had to do it) and given their past results it seems unlikely that they'll be able to do it.

These are contradictory and also highly underselling who they brought in last season

What team/fanbase/coach isn't concerned when they have to replace most of their players?

Duke and Kentucky back when they were getting everyone? There's concern because it's flat out difficult

Of course it’s better to have quality returnees but rebuilding via the portal is a lot easier than thru HS players.
For UNC specifically, we don’t have the recruiting apparatus to load up on enough volume and talent of HS players to build a team from scratch that way in one offseason like Dook anyway. Our only option is to use the portal.

I don't see an contradictions or underselling. They haven't had to replace numerous positions, contributing to a lot of usage yet. Also, given the transfers they've brought in, only three have contributed significantly (in a positive way), in different years. They are now being asked to bring in several, high-usage, positive-impact players. Two things they've yet to do.

Where's the contradiction(s)?

Very few teams can load up on HS players to rebuild. dook and Calipari are about it.

I’m not “very, very, high” on the staff. I do want all those UNC guys to succeed for sure.

As for whether they’ve reflected and done things to get better I don’t know. I’d imagine they have.

It's been reported by IC on several occasions that HD/staff have matched offers, even exceeding some, in situations that they didn't secure the player. While NIL is always an issue, it's not the main issue, as some believe it to be.
IC's reporting about NIL and its impact on Carolina Basketball has been muddled, to say the least. They've essentially reported that we've "been competitive" on many offers and that we aren't near the top of CBB in NIL. And they've refused to be nailed down any further than that, even when specifically asked.

I get they can't always tell everything they hear or know and that I'm sure they have sources putting out the info they'd like the public to hear, but I don't think you can reach any clear conclusions about the impact of NIL on recruiting, specifically to particular recruits or generally, based on IC's reporting.

My best guess is that we've not lost many recruits solely due to NIL, but rarely have we won based on NIL, either. The question, though, is if a second bad year for Hubert and the increased pressure to win soon will create an environment where supporters of the basketball program decide to significantly increase NIL to give Hubert the best possible chance to succeed.

You imagine? Have you not been watching what they have been doing since Hubert has been the coach? Have you not seen what offense they run and how they play defense? Have you seen any changes made?

I was referring to how they approach the portal.

Why does it matter what voters teams do? Whatever Hubert has done hasn't worked for the most part if they are going to miss the tournament for a second time in 3 years.
Because what you’re pining for isn’t really how modern basketball is played.

I’m afraid that overall UNC insists that the student part of the term student-athlete still be honored.
