Robert Reich, first and foremost I would say.

@rbreich.bsky.social
The best way to build your follows quickly is check who your follow is following. If Robert Reich is the type of info you want to see, check his follow list for others you might want to follow.

This is my fourth attempt at a Xitter replacement and this works well to build a base of follows.

At my work today (biomedical research in a medical school) they announced that all professional social media accounts on X will migrate to BlueSky. They linked recent articles in Science and Nature showing that scientists across the globe are abandoning X in droves in favor of BlueSky, which is great news.

Are all the liberals fleeing to a safe space at this Blue Sky place now?

Sounds kind of like when all the MAGAs went to Truth Social when they lost the last election.

We are able to display Bluesky as best we can, it's on Bluesky to update their end so it can display videos and GIFs and what not, not us. They are a new company so I'm sure will do it eventually. It also will not be in dark mode until they fix that too.

In terms of the company itself, yes, it's exciting to see an alternative to Twitter actually emerge finally. Several companies, including Bluesky themselves have tried for years, but for whatever reason, this one seems like it's actually going to happen. I guess the reason of course is the election result and people being disgusted with Elon Musk and what Twitter has become.
Bluesky has only like 23 employees too. They were not setup for the explosive growth of the last two weeks.

I think liberals are voting with their dollars not to support a platform owned by someone they don't want to support and run in a way that has abandoned the concept of moderation (you know, as capitalists will do).

Correct. Same argument the Truth Socialers had after big media tried to de-platform Trump. Everyone is well within their right to use whatever social media site they want to use, and I’m within my rights to call the people weenies who run away from Twitter because they think it’s too far left wing or right wing.

Of course you are because you're special. Seems like X is mas derecho than izquierda. But fortunately your bosiderism is completely wrong most of the time. Broken clock describes your views best.

Investigative journalism and Twitter do not have the same standards, or goals. That is a terrible comparison.

Most people I know who are joining Bluesky left Twitter when Musk bought it and and made substantial (detrimental) changes to the platform. They are flocking to Bluesky now, not as a direct response to the election, but because it is the first non-Twitter platform to be gaining serious momentum as an alterative to Twitter as it exists now.

Twitter, before Musk purchased it, was not some sort of Liberal echo chamber - there was a huge diversity of political thought and opinion. There was moderation that kept the exchanges manageable and relatively within the bounds of decency. Wanting a platform that has similar moderation policies is not liberals seeking a "safe space" as your derisive post suggests.

Played around with BlueSky this evening and think it definitely has a ton of potential to be exactly what Twitter was in the heyday. I plan to remain on Twitter until then, though. I like how I’ve got my news feed curated with the news, sports, politics, current events, etc. that I want to follow. I do think Twitter is a shell of its former self but it’s still the best social media platform specifically for the items I want to consume. As more and more of the big accounts that I follow migrate over to the new one and use Twitter less and less, then my Twitter use will go down, as well.

I do find it funny though how many conservatives are pitching a bitch fit that the libs are abandoning Twitter in droves. Conservatives hate talking to nothing but other conservatives, too, I reckon. Guess it gets pretty boring screaming slurs about transgender people back and forth at each other.

Tim Allen Fox GIF by Last Man Standing

Per usual, HY possesses a superficial understanding of the facts and offers a ludicrous false equivalence. I mean, there's a post on the first page of this thread highlighting how sXitter has become ground zero for online right wing terrorism and violent extremism. Gee, I can't imagine why Democrats are leaving the platform for a more reasonable alternative. Also, Musk is obviously highly visible in partisan politics while Dorsey never engaged in similar behavior.

I am making an account this weekend

I tried to get into Spoutible... And the layout and format are great and familiar, but if you never get the big influencer or sports or media accounts then it will never be valuable
