Hell, the Allmans wrote a song about it decades ago.

Can I get my description changed to "barely active member"?
Sorry to nitpick. The song was written by Dickie Betts who yes, was in the Allman Bros. Wrote a bunch of their songs. His vocals stand out. Never got the credit he deserved. His non Allmans stuff is pretty good. One of those odd things I have a hangup over.

Joined today. Once I saw how much was already there, I deleted my Musk account immediately

It seems like in the last week, there's been a ton of movement towards it even seeing sports teams live posting there

...

In terms of the company itself, yes, it's exciting to see an alternative to Twitter actually emerge finally. Several companies, including Bluesky themselves have tried for years, but for whatever reason, this one seems like it's actually going to happen. I guess the reason of course is the election result and people being disgusted with Elon Musk and what Twitter has become.
I found this site called Truth Social. You guys should check it out.

It's that big company, sports and influencer accounts are moving that's finally giving folks the green light to move and not go back

How do you find starter packs?

I found one for news and politics. One for NC News. But trying to find one for sports

I never figured out how to use Twitter. My kids set up an account for me years ago and I tried to tweet something to Grateful Dead archivist, but I just couldn't figure it out. Same with Instagram. And tick-tock? Forget it, never even tried to set up an account there. I tried to get some info on a couple of stocks on Twitter years ago, but it was mostly people either touting the hell out of it or poo-pooing it. I gave up, but I've always appreciated the curation of tweets that get posted in here. I suspect the same with be true of Bluesky, I won't sign up but will avidly consume whatever gets posted in here. Should I delete my moribund Twitter account on principle?

To the last question, yes

I tweeted once - to yell at ESPN for not putting enough time between games on their basketball schedule. They didn't listen.

Are all the liberals fleeing to a safe space at this Blue Sky place now?

Sounds kind of like when all the MAGAs went to Truth Social when they lost the last election.
Fleeing is the wrong term.

Looking for a place where one can actually have a conversation is not fleeing.

One has to wonder why Musk was willing to lose billions acquiring and ruining twitter to make it an open cesspool.
