Probably it's liberals leaving Facebook after Zuckerberg recently announced that he's moving his company Meta to the right to earn Trump's favor. Factchecks are going away, as are any restrictions on calling people "retards", "trannies", or any other slur that you can think of (except probably for Trumpers, I'm sure they'll still scream about any slurs against them). My guess is that this is what is driving most of the people leaving Facebook and possibly Instagram and Threads.
again, it is because people are fed up with zuckerberg.I can understand leaving a specific type if social media site for myriad reasons. I understand leaving ALL social media. But I don’t ‘get’ leaving one type and very purposefully going to another that hardly functionally parallels it.
BlueSky for X/Twitter seems logical but BlueSky for Facebook does not.
Im a historian so I have to stare right into the train wreck so I’ll keep visiting twitter from time to time. Foreign news, in my case Central American, is also very present there still so I’ll hashtag Guatemala and other specifics there as well.
can't speak to what new platforms people may or may not be joining or why, i just know that there's a large faction of people who are done with musk/zuckerberg and their platforms.I just thought people were moving to Bluesky as an alternative to Twitter. Anyone coming to Bluesky as an alternative to Facebook will be sorely disappointed. I am unaware that is a thing.
why? people have decided that whatever enjoyment they get from using those platforms isn't worth enriching those guys and being part of their social media ecosystems. seems like a perfectly reasonable and enlightened decision. i'm one of them - i'm leaving instagram after having been fairly active on it since @ 2012 or so.Seems to be a 'cut off your nose to spite your face' type of move to me. But I can't judge anyone over leaving a particular social media site or every last one of them for that matter.

i haven't really heard of people removing businesses from those platforms yet, just personal use accounts. removing businesses might fit your "cutting off your nose to spite your face" interpretation.
maybe it'll just basically amount to virtue signaling. that's fine, it makes me feel better about what i'm doing and not doing with my time/energy.I wrote: "But I can't judge anyone over leaving a particular social media site or every last one of them for that matter."
I didn't want to go there but frankly I doubt any enrichment decline will be noticed by the person in question.
I only know a couple of folks doing it and both of them have left both FB & X with messages saying they’ll be active on Bluesky if you want to keep up with them.I just thought people were moving to Bluesky as an alternative to Twitter. Apparently, a number of facebook groups also have Bluesky group pages. I have no idea how that works, as I have used Bluesky exactly twice, but admins in several of my facebook nerd-themed groups have told us that they also run groups on Bluesky.I can understand leaving a specific type if social media site for myriad reasons. The sXitter to Bluesky migration started a few months ago when fElon truly attached himself to Trump and people decided they no longer wanted to be part of a far right propaganda social media ecosystem. The Facebook/Instagram to Bluesky migration is more recent, originating in recent weeks when Zuck the Cuck kissed the ring in service of personal greed and it became apparent that his platforms would become MAGA sympathizing at best. And yeah, the structure of the Bluesky platform is very different from Facebook and Instagram but the social media options for those uninterested in participating in MAGA-commandered socials are very limited these days. It's essentially Bluesky or Snapchat. That's it.I just thought people were moving to Bluesky as an alternative to Twitter.
