Robert Reich, first and foremost I would say (@rbreich.bsky.social).

Any journalists you trust.

I'm partial to the lawfare crowd, Quinta Jurecic (@qjurecic.bsky.social) and Roger Parloff (@rparloff.bsky.social), et al, though I guess they're not "Dems" as much as they're institutionalists, which is where I think the fight really is).
Benjamin Wittes also

I never figured out how to use Twitter. My kids set up an account for me years ago and I tried to tweet something to Grateful Dead archivist, but I just couldn't figure it out. Same with Instagram. And tick-tock? Forget it, never even tried to set up an account there. I tried to get some info on a couple of stocks on Twitter years ago, but it was mostly people either touting the hell out of it or poo-pooing it. I gave up, but I've always appreciated the curation of tweets that get posted in here. I suspect the same with be true of Bluesky, I won't sign up but will avidly consume whatever gets posted in here. Should I delete my moribund Twitter account on principle?
I can’t for the life of me figure out how to navigate instagram.

Yeah, these are not liberals. Wittes was close with Comey, and for all I know, still is. Lawfare was founded, I believe, by Bush DOD guy Jack Goldsmith. Or at least he was associated with them.

They are Adam Kinzingers or Liz Cheneys, by which I mean that their turn toward "liberalism" is actually a turn against MAGA corruption and burn-it-downitis. The lawfare folks were never right-wingers either, so I'm not saying they had similar policy preference to those GOPers. I'm just saying that we share a common enemy and that's why it seems as though we are on the same side. Which is, of course, fine. But if you're looking for liberal voices to follow, those would not be among my suggestions.

Im a historian so I have to stare right into the train wreck so I’ll keep visiting twitter from time to time. Foreign news, in my case Central American, is also very present there still so I’ll hashtag Guatemala and other specifics there as well.

I’m an admirer of Cheney as well. As a Virginia Democrat, I have more in common with reformed Republicans than far left Democrats. MAGA is indeed a common enemy.

BS has most of the good urban planning action now that they left twitter. some good stuff.

On BlueSky.

But why specifically are so many people leaving Facebook to go there?

The two sites are nothing alike.

As Trump takes office and implements his policies with Musk's help, I expect that more and more people not aligned with Trump will finally make the switch from Twitter to Bluesky and that it will continue to grow as a rival of Twitter, although it still has a long way to go before it reaches Twitter's number of users. That's assuming, of course, that Musk or some other right-wing plutocrat doesn't buy Bluesky and move it to the right or just merge it back with Twitter.

I still have a twitter account but no longer post. I do use it though as it’s good for sports and foreign news.

My question isn’t so much why go to BlueSky but rather why the movement to leave Facebook?’

Probably it's liberals leaving Facebook after Zuckerberg recently announced that he's moving his company Meta to the right to earn Trump's favor. Factchecks are going away, as are any restrictions on calling people "retards", "trannies", or any other slur that you can think of (except probably for Trumpers, I'm sure they'll still scream about any slurs against them). My guess is that this is what is driving most of the people leaving Facebook and possibly Instagram and Threads.
