Then he needs to keep on getting better, and perhaps consider stepping away from the basketball court while he is doing so. His behavior is completely and utterly deranged- far beyond the pale of anything that should be acceptable. I am far from being a prude- I routinely use language that would make the most seasoned sailor blush- and it is not the foul language that bothers me in the slightest about Hurley. It’s the complete and total loss of control over and over and over on the sidelines all throughout the game. It’s humiliating and embarrassing that anyone tolerates it- his AD, his school president, his conference commissioner, anyone.

And I understand that my defense of coach K is not going to go over well amongst Tar Heels but I have never, ever, ever seen Mike Krzyzewski behave the way Dan Hurley behaves.
I didn’t see today’s meltdown so I can’t comment. But I don’t remember any Hurley’s sideline antics last year that seemed different or out of line compared to K.

ESPN's inability to schedule and YTTV are quickly becoming annoying.

The recordings have missed the first few minutes of several games and today's UCONN fame stopped with several minutes in regulation. So I missed the comeback and the OT.

I guess I was imagining those f bombs K threw courtside. Not that our boy Danny Hurley hasn’t thrown a few. Lord knows I throw em everyday.

Oh yeah, no doubt Coach K swore with the best of ‘em. Like I said in one of my previous posts, though, it’s not at all the profanity that bothers me about Hurley. Profanity doesn’t bother me at all, in fact- I’m probably more guilty of anyone I know of Needing my mouth washed out with soap. What bothers me about Hurley is that he is explosively demonstrative and abusive to the referees, to opposing players, and to the opposing bench for nearly the entire game. Tonight it directly cost his team a win. I just think that is so completely unacceptable for a head coach to behave that way. An occasional outburst is completely understandable- these guys are cutthroat competitors. I get that. Dan Hurley does not have an occasional outburst, though. Dan Hurley spends the entirety of every single game acting like a complete and total unhinged psychopath.

Gary Parrish from CBS had a good take about this awhile ago. Basically, college basketball is by far the worst major sport when it comes to what it allows the coaches to get away with on the sidelines. Sure, you’ll see CFB/NFL and NBA coaches get into with officials over bad calls, but in CBB the coaches seem to take it to the next level. K and Knight were kind of the pioneers of throwing temper tantrums and relentlessly hounding officials. Hurley is like the 2.0 version of that lol, what he does is beyond ridiculous.

Agree. Unhinged. And he is highly unlikeable. He’s not on my Christmas list that’s for sure.

I admit to watching very few UConn games, but I do not remember Hurley acting the way you described in our game last year or in the SDSU championship game. Those are the only two UConn games I can recall watching with Hurley.

Oh my goodness, he definitely was acting that way during our game. He was chirping our players, chirping our bench, screaming at the initials. I remember it vividly. I watch a lot of UConn games. His behavior is the exact same in every game.

I detest Hurley. Still, that was a terrible call. I hope all suffer. Uconn, Hurley, the lazy ass who didn't try for the rebound. Lousy bunch all of them.

Dayton goes to the half with lead over Iowa State, 41-37, after ISU made a little run at the end of the half to cut a 9-point deficit.

Meanwhile, KU defense is causing the Blue Devil youngsters all kinds of problems, but the devils have settled in on their own defensive end after Kansas hit anything they wanted to start the game. 32-25 with 4:42 left.

If Flagg (who is being doubled and harassed with very physical defense) and Knueppel can get going, this could settle into an entertaining second half. The Blue Devil bench looks better in this game than the prior games I’ve watched — guys figuring out their roles.

KU 32, DU 30 — DU defense digging in and creating easy looks before the Ku defense can get set on the other end. Dickinson has made some odd, low percentage moves.

First it was the ACC vs. Big East Challenge.
Then it was the ACC vs. Big 10 Challenge.
Now it’s the ACC vs. SEC Challenge.

I detect a pattern here… as in: Fuck all you other bullshit conferences. It’s always the ACC in basketball and always has been.
“But what about UCLA and the PAC 10?”
Yeah? What about it? Podunk ass conference is no more.
The ACC is often featured in major inter-conference basketball challenges, like the current ACC-SEC Challenge, because of its historical reputation as a powerhouse conference with strong national appeal, making it a desirable partner for other conferences to compete against, generating significant television viewership and hype around the event.

I can't stand Hunter Dickinson but that is an absolute bullshit ejection. That was not a flagrant 2. There did not seem to be any malicious intent.

Wow. A pretty questionable Flagrant 2 on Hunter Dickinson just now. 57-55 KU with 10:26 left. I would have no problem with a Flagrant 1, but thought they went overboard with the ejection.

KU is not the same team in this game without Dickinson and now he was tossed. Big advantage to the Blue Devils down the stretch.
