It was a horrible call, but again, we've all seen worse. I mean, there was contact. The arms weren't straight up. Incidental contact, surely, but again we've seen fouls from much, much less. And non-calls for much more.
Also, neither of those teams have a future so it really doesn't matter. I don't think anyone is beating Duke in this conference.

Even disregarding the larger point (teams can only really be measured against their competition in a given season) I can't agree with that. Leaving aside the ones you can argue, they are definitely the best Duke team since 2019. Definitely better than 2016 and 2017. Definitely better than 2014. Definitely better than 2012 (fuck Austin Rivers). Definitely better than 2009 and 2007. I won't necessarily argue if you want to say all of the 1998-2006 teams are better; it was a different age in college bball. But that still puts them fairly close to the median even before we get to arguing them versus a lot of other post-2006 teams.
