It is not a problem for the other conferences. It is for the ACC.
They just argued that conferences should put the top two ranked teams in the championship.

That could lead to an undefeated OR one loss team that played a very weak conference schedule being left out of the championship.

How about smaller conferences where you play round robin?

I hate the autobids. Always have. Just put the best teams in the playoffs.
That can't happen because the ACC & Big12 won't agree to it. It also can't happen because the G5 would file suit for lack of reasonable access to the CFP.

This is why the SEC & B1G will eventually raid the ACC & (maybe) the Big12 again and then break away to form a new tier of teams in a "national conference" that doesn't have to worry about the remainder ACC/Big12 plus G5 schools.

Yep. This year just accelerated that.

And if they break football out separately it will make it even faster

This is going to sound like sour grapes coming from a UNC fan but with the size of these conferences and the unbalanced schedules that you get as a result, the CFP rankings really should be the next tiebreaker after conference record and any head to head considerations.

That being said, no reason for Duke fans to not celebrate the title or anything. They didn’t create the system.

Next year, we only play 8 conference games while everyone else plays 9. Not that we will be in the mix, but wonder how they will handle those types of discrepancies.

As long as humans are removed from that ranking influence....

Yea
ACC Ex Mumero Uno of how our conference championship criteria nearly set us up to fail in the CFP

Who gives a rat’s ass what the ACC and Big12 think? Their opinion doesn’t count.

The problem with breaking out football is that the inequalities in the system will mean that the non-P2 teams will be dominated in every other sport, as well, unless spending caps are put in place.

Imagine that Carolina makes the P2 and NC State does not. There's no way that NC State will be able to spend equally with Carolina in basketball when Carolina is bringing in drastically more money from sports ($30 to $50 million more per year) than State. While I'm not against Carolina spending 2-3x as much in NIL as State and dominating them, that seems to be a sad way for the sport to go.
