I always hated the deal with Notre Dame. Either be a full member in football, too, or hit the bricks. But I also hate what the ACC is now. The conference is a dead man walking.
They gave us 5 games a year against ND-tv jive

Funny that their fans all of the sudden hate the ACC, like they haven’t been the party that has massively benefitted from the arrangement.

If they didn’t have a bunch of terrible ACC teams to beat up on then their schedule would be even worse than it already is. Good look putting together a quality resume without those games as more conferences go to a 9 game schedule.

I've never had a major issue with ND and its weird kinda-independent status (other than 2020 when I think they should have either had to join the conference as a full member or get no games against ACC teams that year), but their actions now have pushed me to actively dislike them.

I also think that the CFP should pull any type of special deals with them and treat them like any other potential at-large team. They make it or they don't and that's just the outcome.

The ACC did ND a huge favor in 2020.

It's long past time for the sports media and NCAA special attention and treatment given to Notre Dame to end. They need to suck it up and formally join a conference or accept the consequences - the likelihood that they'll be left out of the playoffs most of the time. I will say that the whining and crying from them today has been very entertaining. As for leaving the ACC, go for it.

Goodbye GIF

ETA: ND was always going to leave the ACC within the next few years when the conference big boys depart. The absolute worst that this could mean is that ND leaves a season or two earlier than they would have otherwise and I'm a little skeptical they'll do that.
