Bipartisan air travel safety act was essentially killed by a last second objection from the Pentagon that it is too prescriptive and too expensive.

“… If passed, the bill would force a safety review of flight routes at all large and midsize airports, limit the conditions under which the military could turn off advanced location broadcasting technology, and require most aircraft to be equipped with advanced location tracking technology by the end of 2031. The House’s G.O.P. leaders announced last week that they would put the ROTOR Act to a vote, just hours after the N.T.S.B. released its final report on the midair collision.…”

It had exceptions for classified flights. But MAGA killed it.

There is an alternative act, the ALERT Act. TBD whether it can pass.

“…Mr. Orta died in a fiery car crash at around 1 a.m. on Saturday when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving and struck a utility pole. The car caught on fire and Mr. Orta died before the three other people in the car, including a stepsister, were able to pull him out, Mr. Arriaga said. The crash over the weekend had no connection to the shooting last March.

According to a preliminary San Antonio police report, which did not name Mr. Orta, the person behind the wheel was driving “at a high rate of speed” when he attempted to exit the highway and lost control of the vehicle.…”

Of course he won't resign. This precedent has been set by the radical right. Commit an atrocious act, deny/ignore it, give it a news cycle or two, and then *POOF* it magically all goes away.
Yeah, I was thinking the same. Given the party he's in, why should he resign? MAGAs in his district will likely excuse anything as long as he's owning the libs and very loudly hating the same people and groups that they do. Relentlessly sexually harassing a female employee until she finally gives in and has an affair with you, and then kills herself afterwards, won't bother most of them very much, as they've proven by voting for similar thugs over and over again, including Trump. After all, he says he supports Jesus in public - and the appearance rather than the reality of moral values is what matters, amirite? - and God chose "imperfect vessels" to do his work (the Bible tells me so!) and the woman probably led him on and deserved it anyway. Only the best people.
