It's always a good time to minimize fraud and wasteful spending. That isn't what's happening.

Firing every FBI agent who worked on the attempted overthrow of the government sure isn't eliminating fraud and wasteful spending. Giving elmo's incels all Treasury Department data isn't eliminating fraud and wasteful spending. Hitting our allies and largest trading partners with inflationary and recessionary tariffs isn't eliminating fraud and wasteful spending.

He isn't trying to eliminate fraud and wasteful spending. It's retaliation and corruption.
All of this. Conservatives need to read this over and over again until they comprehend it.

There will not be a Presidential Election in 2028 in any real sense. The only elections we will see for the next decades will be of the variety conducted in Hungary and Russia.

We have all seen the end of any semblance of voters having a say at the polls in this land...for a very long time.
I agree, 99% sure this is the case. Pubs have no idea the recklessness they have unleashed. Even though they were told over and over and over again.

There is a difference between predicting where we will be in the future and observing where we are today.

Personally I think extreme predictions like those set out in the OP are one of the reasons why the Trump “resistance” failed the first time. Too many genuine, but overwrought, predictions about immediate dictatorship that made it seem, when Trump didn’t literally name himself emperor like things really weren’t all that bad.

Trump is doing a lot of bad and crazy stuff that we can talk about on its merits. We don’t need to spend as much time hyperventilating about what’s coming next. Focus on the bad stuff happening now and how to stop it, not dire predictions.
If you honestly look at where we are today, I would argue nothing in the OP is an extreme prediction, just logical.

I disagree. Every Spanish-speaking person and trans person in an internment camp? Completely rigged midterm elections? Trump refusing to leave office and getting assassinated by Republicans? No, I don't think any of that is logical. I think it's important to guard against backsliding into authoritarianism, which is exactly what is happening right now, but saying we'll be a full-on fascist dictatorship within two years is hyperbole that undercuts that message. We need to focus on showing people why the things that ae happening right now are so dangerous, and so anti-democratic. They are bad enough on their merits without needing to exaggerate for effect.

We shall see. Some Spanish speakers, some trans, not all. You do understand the goal of the Heritage Foundation, permanent conservative rule. They only need to rig the elections a little to put them over the top. They have engaged in massive efforts of voters suppression the last 20 years. The right taking out Trump I'll give you, I just think it's very possible they have considered it. Trump refusing to leave office is not hyperbole at all, I don't need to explain that.

Hope you are right and I am wrong. I have a very strong understanding of their motivations and tactics. They are moving extremely quickly right now, with very little actual resistance. Fingers crossed 🤞

They already have plans to deport approx 500K legal immigrant Venezuelans from Miami, who idiotically voted for him. Deportation, temporary internment, yada yada. I am exaggerating only based on their words and actions, not for effect. I do want people to understand the gravity of our current situation.

I don't know where to put this - Vought has ordered CFPB to stop all investigations and no new cases.

I agree about the number of people in camps but I am surprised you think that there isn't a very good chance that we will be in a full on authoritarian dictatorship in two years. That is clearly the direction we are headed and we are moving there at warp speed.

I understand that saying that might not be the best messaging but I also don't think it is hyperbole.

Yeah I’m going to state for the record I’m no advocating for violence either. But I think with the way things are going the progression of things will lead to violence.
You blue and red freaks leave me the hell alone if it does. I havent voted for either of the two corrupt parties. You are reaping what you have sewn for decades

I never learned to sew, so I'd say you're wrong. Also, if you haven't voted for "either of the two corrupt parties," then you're getting what you voted for. You've basically said that you're fine with what everyone else chooses.

“I am not necessarily advocating for violence. I simply think that is our way to course correct. …”
I appreciate the sentiment (without the “not necessarily” qualifier).

As I’ve said many times lately, it is one thing to discuss the possibility of some violent response to political frustration and theoretical discussions of the root causes of political violence, versus hoping for, encouraging, calling for or organizing political violence (or any other violence) or assassinations/murder.

I appreciate everyone who posts here respecting that distinction, notwithstanding your justifiable (or not) political frustrations. Especially with @Rock going through some issues, we’re down to one person (me) trying to maintain a certain standard that includes not having this forum backslide into a place to agitate for violent responses to anything.

Many thanks.
