Signal is permitted for coordinating with colleagues about your lunch plans, not the conduct of clandestine operations. What a fucking idiot.

Here’s a real life example of where Signal is permitted. In my reserve capacity I was recently in a professional education course required for my next promotion. We used Signal for coordinating group projects and the like. However, even in preparing our training exercise operation for the course, we did not use fucking Signal because we don’t want our adversaries knowing how we train.

Their refusal to take the L drags the story out and makes them look more ridiculous.

Just take the L and move on. Nothing is going to happen. DOJ isn’t looking to take action, a Republican Congress isn’t going to do anything.

This sensitive and classified war action information was on PRIVATE PHONES of gov't admins scattered throughout the globe, including RUSSIA. And no SCIFs, which was the only way HRC passed on classified information.

Records were not being retained. So, when the auto-coup happens...

I regularly get reminder emails from my job that I could face consequences if I accidentally copy the wrong *internal* people on an email concerning sensitive clinical trial data. And I double check numbers when I’m sending a group chat to confirm dinner reservations with friends. But I guess a social faux pas is more serious than national security.

Anyways:

lol So close to the truth!!

Seems like more of a job for (a) an FBI investigation and (b) an NSC/CIA/OIG review than an ad hoc third party review by 20-something temps.
Even if you wanted to stay in the fascist-South African-tech-bro-billionaire club, Thiel and Palantir are a far better choice to do the work.

One theory being floated about is that Waltz meant to add jamieson greer (also initials JG), but added Jeffrey Goldberg by mistake.
Another theory is Waltz was trying to do Hegseth a favor and adding the number of a hot, 24 year old staffer with a killer rack that Pete was trying to bone.

Having had Top Secret clearance during active duty, I find this whole situation astonishing. No sensitive information should ever be discussed outside of a secure environment. The fact that it came out only because a journalist was included in the texts is irrelevant. Who knows how long this has been going on? Any other active duty military personnel would be court martialed and dishonorably discharged.
Even more astonishing is the brazen refusal to acknowledge that this is a massive fuck-up that should NEVER be allowed to happen.
I strongly suspect that this medium is being used to avoid FOIA requirements that apply to official communications.

Agreed. They’re making it so much worse and, by refusing to acknowledge the fuckup and accept the blame, making clear just how bad it was.

Keep howling at the moon!

1. Signal was an approved form of communication for confidential conversations. It was installed by the CIA on Ratcliffe's government phone.
2. Goldberg should not have been included on the group chat. That was a MISTAKE which needs to be corrected going forward. Agree that the Administration should acknowledge the mistake and move on.
3. No actual breach of security occurred.
4. The mission was a complete success.
5. Trump is finally clearing the Red Sea of terrorists - which Biden ceded to the Houthis after removing them from the terror watch list.

I get why Dems are rolling with this issue. At least they're not having to be on the wrong end of an 80/20 issue by defending Venezuelan gang members; Hamas loving/Jew hating student protestors; inefficient government workers; trans child groomers; TESLA terrorists or Crockett calling for hit jobs on Musk or making fun of Abbot's disability.

It's like members of one of the frats from 80s movies like Revenge of the Nerds got together post-graduation, couldn't figure out what to do with their lives because they had spent the previous four years binge drinking, and were like "hey, bro, let's go into politics!"

And here we are.

Ooof. This ain’t a good look, brother. Even by your standards of reflexively defending literally anything and everything Donald Trump, to say that there was no breach of security is astonishingly dumb. I mean, they literally were texting about actual attack plans involving active duty United States military personnel who were dropping munitions on enemy targets in enemy territory. Are you really going to try to act like this is a giant nothing burger with a straight face? Come on, now. You can still love Donald Trump and also accept that this is a colossal national security failure that needs to be rectified with resignations or firings.

If true (and it isn’t), wouldn’t that just point to how incredibly irresponsible and dangerous it was to have this conversation on the app?
I mean, we all (except the true believers) know how incredibly stupid it is, but this dumbass doesn’t seem to realize he is confirming that as he tried to throw someone else under the bus.
Jeebus, our country is being lead by a bj ch of imbeciles.
