"ā€œI’m a walking contradiction,ā€ he said, smiling."

No shit, Sherlock.
There have been lots of FAFO stories out there, but this one is near the top for how it illustrates just how hypocritical, selfish, and stupid so many of these people are. Just pure dumbassery on the part of this guy. Hates Hispanic illegals, blames them for his father's failures in life, but falls in love with a Hispanic illegal and yet somehow still wants illegals who are "lazy and won't work" driven out of the country, but now that he's married to one he wants their removal to be handled "humanely". And as the article makes clear, his new wife's life story totally contradicts the stereotypes he has about illegals.

And the end of the article is something - his wife is about to be kicked out of the country thanks to the guy he voted to be POTUS, so he's going to leave with her and become an immigrant to Ecuador. LOL. The guy can defend himself however he wants, but I get the impression that he's just too stubborn and prideful to admit that he was wrong. And he even hopes that someday he and his wife and children can return to the USA - as immigrants. Hope they don't try while the guy he voted for is still POTUS, or they'll be spending time in a lovely ICE detention center. I wish I could summon up some sympathy for these people, but I just can't. I do feel sorry for his wife, in several different ways. But not him.

One other person interviewed for the article had the best observation: ā€œEverybody wants to enforce the law until it hits home with a personal story."

Even better, even if you think someone's political views are repugnant, don't wish harm on anyone.
Define harm, what about mild but impactful pain?

What if I ignore their political views but I feel the consequences of their actions are beyond repugnant. Example: someone doing something which makes climate change worse, while also doing something which removes funding which helps mitigate climate disasters, which leads to people (innocent people, kids for example or people who voted against the bad decisions) getting killed or put into miserable circumstances. If they won't learn their mistake via other means, can I wish something bad happens to that person personally so they learn to make different decisions in the future, for the sake of greater good (so innocents aren't hurt)?

Again, let's say only pain will fix the beyond repugnant actions. You can a) wish something painful on a minority (the 32% of eligible voters who voted for Trump) for the greater good of the majority, b) just give thoughts & prayers for everybody, or c) ___?______

Yea, don't kick people while they are down, that's a trump move.
I guess i'm posing the "trolley problem". And I admit to feeling dirty having to ask the question given the amount of pain many Texans are going thru. I'd hate for my Repub relatives to be hurt. I'd also hate for the planet to melt due to tribalism and confirmation bias mixed with disinformation.

Maybe this fits here?

The wife of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said Thursday she is filing for divorce ā€œon biblical grounds,ā€ ending their 38-year marriage as he seeks to unseat Sen. John Cornyn in next year’s Republican Senate primary.

Angela Paxton, a state senator, wrote in a social media post that her decision followed ā€œrecent discoveriesā€ – though she did not elaborate. In her divorce filing, obtained by CNN, she alleged that the attorney general had committed adultery and said they stopped living together around June 1, 2024.

You mean a Bible-thumping, "traditional family values" supporting, LGBTQ hating, anti-abortion extremist, loud and proud Evangelical supporter of Republican Jesus turns out to be an adulterer (likely a serial one) who is having an extramarital affair? Say it isn't so! The list of MAGA politicians who don't even attempt to practice what they preach and try to force onto others could probably stretch to the moon at this point. And yet Paxton is leading in the polls for next year's GOP Senate nomination in Texas, and I'll guarantee that his main base of support will be Texas Evangelical Christians. Same as it ever was.

I’ll be shocked if this is just run of the mill adultery. Given her position (TX state senator), her religious beliefs likely extend either just as far as they’re politically useful - well short of caring about a cheating husband- or far enough to overlook an extramarital escapade or two.
He’s either knocked someone up or the dalliance was with a woman 25 years younger, maybe someone he employs, and Angela Paxton found explicit texts, photos or even video. Outside chance it involved another man or farm animal.

I'm hoping farm animal.
