I'm not hugely against males and female restrooms, but I believe you will see an increase in females being assaulted if all men are allowed in women's restrooms. I don't know how you can legally say only men who "think" they're women are allowed and female bathrooms, So I think there is a crime of opportunity factor in play.

My bigger concern is women's locker rooms and showers where I believe women will put up the biggest fight, for good reason. Women don't want to have to undress and/or shower in front of men, or have men Leering at them while they do either one.

I think there is an even more increased likelihood of sexual assault in that situation

"The first assault occurred in May 2021, when Heckel, wearing a skirt, assaulted a girl in the bathroom at Stone Bridge High School. The second assault took place at Broad Run High School in October 2021. Between these incidents, the Loudoun County School Board approved a policy allowing transgender students to use bathrooms corresponding to their gender identity. This decision led to heated school board meetings and placed Loudoun County in the national spotlight.

Do women want to undress and/or shower in front of women, staring at them while they do either one?
I don't know the answer to this question as I have never spent any time in a women's locker room. That said, I would think it would be pretty creepy to have anyone staring at you while you showered or got undressed. I know my policy at urinals is to look straight ahead without even a 5 degree angle of variance to either side.

Don't forget picking the urinal that is maximally distant from all other occupied urinals.
 
I'm legitimately stunned by the number of people who apparently believe that legislating bathroom access would actually stop anyone who is hellbent on commiting sexual assault. That's, like, so completely preposterous so as not to be believable. Do those people really think that someone who is going to hypothetically commit sexual assault in a public restroom is going to all of a sudden say, "ahhh fuck, you know, I was totally going to go into that women's restroom and sexually assault whomever I find in there, but son of a fucking bitch, wouldn't you know it, those wily old Republicans passed a law that says that men can't go into women's restrooms. Curses! Foiled again!"

Also, do those people believe that sexual assault somehow becomes *more* illegal if they pass a law that says that men can't use women's restrooms? It's already against the law!

Like I mentioned earlier, if you're going to allow biological males into women's locker rooms and showers, I don't see how you legally enforce it being only biological males who believe they are females. Straight men and straight women rarely want to look at people of the same sex. Sure there are exceptions to that rule. I think that making this change would result in noticeable negative outcomes almost entirely for women.
 
Serious question, no snark: is there any other country in the world that legislates bathroom use?

Quit being obtuse. The only point that matters is does a policy that allows trans men who aren't fully transitioned to use the women's bathroom place women at risk of assault? It without question does. It doesn't matter how many are / were / may be assaulted. If its only one then that is one to many. Women don't have any other options. Only the dem party would sacrifice the safety and rights for half the country to appease .25% of the population over something like the bathroom. It was a losing issue during the election and it will be a losing issue in the next election. But by all means keep debating the Loudoun kid's motives as if there aren't other cases that prove the point. Yes, rape victim Nancy Mace is passionate about men not using the women's bathroom because it makes many of them uncomfortable and fearful. Can't imagine why she would be nasty about that issue, or about men playing women's sports. Of course, R, so rape sympathy doesn't apply here.

Do you have proof that Nancy Mace was raped? Or are you just taking her word because "R"? Did she file a police report? Was her alleged rapist investigated by LE? Did LE press charges? Was the alleged rapist convicted on criminal charges of aggravated sexual assault?

Unless you can answer those questions, we've got no choice but to assume it didn't happen.

Sexual assault is already against the law.

Laws governing where trans people shit don't reduce assault, it doesn't address assault, because sexual assault is already against the law.

I think there would be increased sexual assault for really no reason but people's feelings. That being said, I'm "trying" to be ok with it much like I had to become ok with gay marriage many years ago. The difference is that I see increased victimization of women in this situation that didn't exist for gay marriage.

My bigger concern is locker rooms and showers because, again, I don't see how you limit access to only trans men.

Was she raped by a trans female?

Why doesn't she work to ensure that rapist like Brock Turner are actually punished and not given a slap on the wrist because he's a privileged white male.

That would make much more sense.

I'm all for laws to ensure rapist are appropriately punished.

Where a few women shit doesn't do that.

I must be living under an enormous boulder because I legitimately had no idea whatsoever that bathroom/shower/locker room access was currently some existential crisis facing America. I'm not even being snarky or sarcastic. I'm dead serious. Had literally no clue that this many people apparently spend this much time thinking (or fearing) about those things.

To be honest, I don't think many people, until recently, gave any of it much thought. I think telling females that males might, or are going to be, allowed in locker rooms is why there is attention on it now. The attention now is probably only among females that follow politics fairly closely. If it were be implemented, you'd probably hear more from females.

It's another classic case of the GOP and right-wing news media and social media and talk radio taking a largely irrelevant issue (or one that is irrelevant to the vast majority of Americans) and turning it into a greatly overblown crisis that frightens and angers their base to get out and vote. It's no different than the "transgenders in women's sports" issue (and lol at Trumpers caring about women's sports). There are at least 180,000 high school athletes in North Carolina alone, and in the state we've had fewer than 5 cases of transgenders playing sports here, yet I've seen plenty of posts from social conservatives who are all worried and concerned about this issue. Republicans and their media outlets like Fox really are brilliant at finding issues to rile up their base - they have become masters at playing on their emotions, fears, and bigotries.

Those laws exist. Of course they have to be administered by judges who believe in punishment. The Loudoun kid is out by the way. So yea, slap on the wrist. To bad those girls and their parents live in an area where judges don't protect their rights. How many rapes are acceptable so .25% of the population can use the women's bathroom? Does half the population's opinion matter? Say its 90% of women don't mind. Does the other 10% have to be worried so we can be woke and appease that .25% who feel slighted? Where is the line?
