Now that she's doing interviews, just wait until Dear Leader and his motley crew start complaining that she's too busy doing interviews to care about what's happening to the people in western NC affected by Helene. You know it's coming, because that's who they are.

Is she interviewing with The NY Times, WAPO, WSJ?

No?

She’s not serious.
That’s one way to think about it. But consider also that’s she’s trying to win an election in today’s media landscape.

Over the past few days I’ve been trying to get people to vote in this little contest for the Linville Rescue Squad. What I’ve noticed is that there are individuals on social media that have more reach than traditional media. Did you know that the Holderness family has five MILLION followers on Facebook? That’s pretty big reach right there, and likely more followers than all the news stations in North Carolina combined.

Kamala just did an interview on the Call Me Daddy podcast, which is apparently “the most listened to podcast by women.” I posted a clip from it in another thread. It’s no New York Times, but it sure might be an effective PR strategy when your objective is to win the election. Doing these types of interviews are a way to get voters to listen to your message, who ordinarily might stay within their own bubble of media (whether that’s right-wing, conservative, or in the case of some young people, apolitical). Her goal here is to WIN.

The fact are clear. She was running for the Democratic nomination and took positions that were outside the norm for most Americans. If she’s challenged on some of those positions, it might not go well. She’s likely to win. Why would any responsible candidate put themselves in a positions where they look bad? Trump isn’t disciplined enough to make the case against her. Harris shouldn’t do any interviews. The goal is to win.

it’s so funny that all we’ve heard is that she won’t sit down for an interview. Anyone ever think it’s because the legacy media is obsessed with dumbass questions like “how are you going to pay for tax credits?”

Love her answer there. Makes it clear the billionaire class needs to be taxed higher, and that we need people to elect more Democrats in Congress to get it done

Anyone watching this? Bill Whitaker is grilling her pretty good. I think her answers could be better.

When pressed about how she would get her tax plan through congress… I wish she would say something like

I understand that it’s important to work across the aisle, which is why I supported the bipartisan legislation proposed to strengthen our southern border. I have countless endorsements from republicans who understand the perils of a second Trump term and I believe that we’re all ready to work together to find a new way forward.

When pressed about the border and why it took her administration so long to act. Lean into the fact that Biden asked her to visit Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras to find the root cause of our problems and that once she did, illegal crossing began to come down, that she then worked with pubs to craft and support the bipartisan legislation that Trump crushed!

The truth is on her side but she’s not communicating it very well.

Just watched in on YouTube. Agree that the facts are on her side, but she struggles to communicate. I wish she would’ve emphasized the need to elect Democrats to Congress as well.

Something like: the Democratic Party supports making the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes. If I’m President, I will need Democratic majorities in Congress to pass this legislation. Vote for Dems up and down the ticket to ensure we can get this done.

Some of his questions were just downright silly though. I went back and watched the Obama 2008 60 Minutes vid and the difference is stark. Seems Whitaker just has a set of questions he asks any left of center politician. When was the last time a Republican was asked: how will you pay for that?

Journalism as a profession has fallen so far.

I watched it and thought she did fine.

Whitaker came back to questions to try and get direct answers. To Trump, this type of interview would have been "nasty." Well, if it was with Whitaker, I guess he would label it "uppity."

Harris' answer to the border question could have been better. It was not bad or anything, and she tried to do this in a way, but she should have said something, we did try to do things differently and Republicans would not help us. She needed to emphasize even more emphatically that Republicans only care about the border as a campaign issue and not actually doing anything about it.

Her answer on Ukraine was very good. Her answer about people getting to know her was good.

Her answer on the economy was pretty good.

Agreed about the economy. Glad that she chose to focus on the wealthy paying their fair share. With Biden and Harris both talking about this, it seems this is being reincorporated into the standard Democratic lexicon in a way that it wasn’t pre-2016. I’m thankful for that.
