I'm wondering what she could have possibly said that would have earned her less negative coverage. The hits were going to come from one angle or another.
Correct. This is a great example of the absurd double standard that has developed in the age of Trump. Kamala gets criticized for not throwing her friend and boss under the bus. Trump smears his feces on the interviewer’s face and she goes to great lengths to put it in “context.”

Absolutely, and its been going on ever since she replaced Biden as the Democratic nominee. There was actually a journalist who posted sometime ago that Harris should be "held to a higher standard" than Trump, basically for the bullshit reason that everybody knows what Trump is like and that he won't really answer questions and that he lies and so on, so Harris should be treated differently. And make no mistake, that is a bullshit double standard. But it does exist, no doubt.

That’s one way to think about it. But consider also that’s she’s trying to win an election in today’s media landscape.

Over the past few days I’ve been trying to get people to vote in this little contest for the Linville Rescue Squad. What I’ve noticed is that there are individuals on social media that have more reach than traditional media. Did you know that the Holderness family has five MILLION followers on Facebook? That’s pretty big reach right there, and likely more followers than all the news stations in North Carolina combined.

Kamala just did an interview on the Call Me Daddy podcast, which is apparently “the most listened to podcast by women.” I posted a clip from it in another thread. It’s no New York Times, but it sure might be an effective PR strategy when your objective is to win the election. Doing these types of interviews are a way to get voters to listen to your message, who ordinarily might stay within their own bubble of media (whether that’s right-wing, conservative, or in the case of some young people, apolitical). Her goal here is to WIN.

Just coming on here to toot my own horn 😂

This is all like one of my cats... sitting on my desk, watching the cursor moving around on the monitor. Just waiting to catch the "mouse" napping...

This (the media blitz) is necessary but risky for Harris/Walz. I get the approach of "Just sit back and let Trump hang himself", which worked for Biden, but we aren't in a pandemic where there's no excuse to stay out of the public eye. Harris isn't great at expressing thoughts on the fly and putting herself all over the media could backfire.
For example.....

Dude half of America thinks she controls hurricanes, complex foreign policy questions won’t move any needle.
We all know it's the Jews, their space lasers and weather machines that control everything.

I think she's getting lots of good press outside of the MAGAsphere with what she's doing lately. Trump calling her dumb only resonates with his folks. People like her when they hear her. Full stop.

I think part of the reason the race has tightened again is because Trump was able to grab the media spotlight from her with the whole "dark-skinned immigrants invading America's small towns and taking them over and eating your pets" brouhaha, followed by Trump just blatantly lying his a** off and accusing Biden & Harris of not doing enough to help Hurricane Helene victims, as well as utterly loony conspiracy theories about Democrats controlling hurricanes and FEMA locking up rescue workers and God only knows what else. What Harris needed to do was to try and start getting the spotlight back on her, as it was for the first month or so of her candidacy, when she first surged in the polls. Hopefully these interviews will help do just that.

This.

They need to talk about Trump talking with Putin after he left office and giving Russia the COVID tests while he was in office nonstop.

Trump is so pathetic ... now Howard Stern is "beta" according to the guy with a cotton-candy comb-over who wears diapers, a girdle and compression socks?

Don't get me wrong, I was never a fan of Howard Stern and don't have a view on his manliness generally.
