I watched it and thought she did fine.

Whitaker came back to questions to try and get direct answers. To Trump, this type of interview would have been "nasty." Well, if it was with Whitaker, I guess he would label it "uppity."

Harris' answer to the border question could have been better. It was not bad or anything, and she tried to do this in a way, but she should have said something, we did try to do things differently and Republicans would not help us. She needed to emphasize even more emphatically that Republicans only care about the border as a campaign issue and not actually doing anything about it.

Her answer on Ukraine was very good. Her answer about people getting to know her was good.

Her answer on the economy was pretty good.

Whitaker was really trying to get a "basket of deplorables" type of comment. Glad she didn't step in that.

However, it is ridiculous to me that people have normalized Trump's racist behavior and language so much that Harris has to act like so many of his supporters are not racists. Guess what? A shitload of them are racists. A shitload of people need to get over their racism. A shitload of people need to be shamed for their racism. It's ridiculous that politicians have to make this ridiculous dance. Yes, the president is the president for all people, but for some people the president should show them the error of their ways and that their behavior is not acceptable.

Tis why we are where we are.

Some of the funnier podcasters and talking heads always stop short of getting to the root.

"Republicans buy shoes too" says everything.

So I understand the concern about 1-2 answers being more muddy (how will you pay for it). But they werent bad or yikes or anything.
And overall, ESPECIALLY with the trump part about fact checking? I think this was a very good night for her, and many, many people still watch and trust 60 minutes

This (the media blitz) is necessary but risky for Harris/Walz. I get the approach of "Just sit back and let Trump hang himself", which worked for Biden, but we aren't in a pandemic where there's no excuse to stay out of the public eye. Harris isn't great at expressing thoughts on the fly and putting herself all over the media could backfire.
