Dude was by far Cal's best player last year and sometimes could not handle load (see game in Smith Center last year). But he would be exactly what this team needs. Unfortunately, we likely can't afford his price tag -- even with the Lubin funds now in play.

I agree with you about needing to factor in volume and role but Stojakovic wasn't much more efficient as a freshman in a role where he wasn't the highest usage player. I'm personally just not convinced he's actually a great shooter based on his college results - and plus I think he could be a defensive liability at the 3.

It’s not like VAL was much of that either. They weren’t exactly running stuff to get him post touches

Dives off of pick and rolls is where he made a living. Wilson/Stevenson both should provide some of that

Unless they somehow increase talent elsewhere, they absolutely do need Veesaar at 25-28mpg. That’s with or without VAL imo

I agree. That's why I said you don't want him out there more than that.

I'm just not as confident that anyone else on the roster can really play the 5 and not get completely bullied, on both ends.

I'd love to have another guard/wing too. But I think you're being a little too dismissive of where this would leave our post rotation.

but veesaar/wilson/stevenson/high/brown is a SIGNIFICANT upgrade from washington/lubin/withers/brown.

i think high can give us a some decent minutes at the 5. hopefully he lived in the gym/weightroom/cafeteria during his little off year.

Still don't have a real PG, either. Guess Hubert is going all in with combo guards. And definitely need another wing.

Seems like he's looking for a big payday and if we're out of money already . . .

Where is our money going, anyway? I assume Caleb Wilson needed a big chunk of NIL, along with the AZ big man and the combo guard from CO. But I hope we're not paying the role players very much.

People keep saying we have as much money as everyone, but it sure doesn't seem that our money stretches that far. Has Hubert been bad at negotiating? I could see that -- no idea why he would be good at it. Now we have a GM but how much was done before he took over?

Yeah, I mean if Brown/High can’t give you 10-12 mins collectively then why keep them around
 
Where are you guys getting that we’re out of money or can’t afford to add more pieces? That’s not the vibe I’ve been getting from the IC reporting.

IC reported the other day that VAL’s sudden entrance into the portal opened up an opportunity for us to use the money we would have paid him to go after another wing. The assumption being that we didn’t have those funds available until he announced.

4 million gets us Haggerty PG from Memphis.
Another 3 million gets the top remaining SF Luis Jr. from St Johns.
Then there is a 7'1" center Reece Potter who would probably be happy as a backup. Or Noah Amenhauser, he's 7'2"

I see someone expressing that we don’t have the money to field a team but no details beyond that unless I missed something.

I guess it’s all relative. Obviously we don’t have unlimited money to grab any transfer we want and it’s possible for other programs to outbid us, but IC has been pretty consistent that any misalignment with our fundraising has been more or less addressed and that lack of money is no longer an excuse for the performance. While there’s no way to see the exact amount of money each program has at its disposal, the people who cover the sport that are most plugged into that sort of thing say we are in the top echelon of spenders this cycle:
