None of that stuff is public. You need an enterprising reporter like Greg Barnes to find out we spent $14 million this year. There is no Greg Barnes equivalent covering Duke. That changes the answer, not the question.
Who knows? Not sure we'll ever really know for sure. What was the total budget for the team?
YesMy understanding is that only about 10% came from the school the rest in endorsements.
$5mil last year is believed to have been within the top 20 NIL budgets for CBB. It's believed that we were competitive in our NIL offers last summer. Our budget certainly outpaced our outcomes."Not willing" is a bizarre term to use for an endeavor with a capped budget.
If we have $5M to work with, and the going rate for a good center is $2M, then it doesn't matter how much HD wants them here. We're going to get what we pay for, which is Lubin and not the guy from Stanford.
Also, it seems weird that you discount the concept of secondary options. Nobody was "forced" on HD perhaps, but if he's going with his sixth choice, it's seems weird to say he wants them here.
The closest I've seen to answering that question is that Flagg made $6mil last year while at dook, with the school's NIL collective responsible for roughly half of that amount. That was for two of his deals, one with New Balance and the other Fanatics. How much did Duke pay him?
Believed. I'm not sure how much I trust info that filters through the sands of IC. Plus, if the staff knew the winning bid, they might have won. LOL. I wonder how much they had to pay to keep RJ. A lot of the budget I would imagine.$5mil last year is believed to have been within the top 20 NIL budgets for CBB. It's believed that we were competitive in our NIL offers last summer. There are no firm facts out there about NIL from any school or really any specific player. If you're not willing to go with the best reporting available, then you're simply left with your own thoughts and nothing more.Believed. Sometimes it's better to have nothing than to be wrong. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying I don't trust this reporting 100%.you're simply left with your own thoughts and nothing more.
Well then, who’s reporting did you see that gave the amount Flagg was paid by Duke? And, what was the amount?Sometimes it's better to have nothing than to be wrong. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying I don't trust this reporting 100%.
I've seen the number put at anywhere from $5M-$7M, but precision and accuracy aren't really relevant to my point. It's obvious that Flagg would be paid more than anyone else, and it's also clear that Duke's budget was much higher than ours -- again, whether or not it was $5 or $7Well then, who’s reporting did you see that gave the amount Flagg was paid by Duke? As snoop pointed out, our offers were competitive last off season, sometimes even bidding higher than other teams involved (who ended up getting the player).I've seen the number put at anywhere from $5M-$7M, but precision and accuracy aren't really relevant to my point. By contrast, the issue of whether our offer is competitive seems to demand greater precision.
Seems like the only competitive offer is the highest offer.I've seen the number put at anywhere from $5M-$7M, but precision and accuracy aren't really relevant to my point.
